On tap. White head. Lace walls. Clear golden color.

Grapefruit citrus and juicy hop resin. Some stickiness and some amount of dank. Bready malts. Tastes like a west coast ipa.

Solid.

Clear deep amber color. Citrusy and tropical hops a little spicy, and a sweet heavy malt nose. Bitter dry hops throughout. Heavy grapefruit pith, resin, a little dank, and fairly clean dry finish. Notes of straw.

Poured out a cloudy, amber color with a small, a very small, short-lived head. It smelled strongly of pine with hints of pine, citrus and burnt toast maltiness. Tasted of sharp, bitter, pine-flavored, hops. Nice caramel malt flavor mellows the hops out a little.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Thick tiny bubbled lacing, mildly hazed amber hue. Blood orange rind, fresh cut grass, grapenuts, and herbal tea in the nose. Deep smoothness, lots of hop resin and bitterness. Malt backbone shows some toasted grain and caramel. Orange rind, pith, and zest from the hops. Slight warmth from the alcohol, a little fruity, and finishes bitter and semi-dry.

All in all its about a half step ahead of the pack, lots of IPAs out there so this one is worth a try.

While the hops in the aroma are fruity and tropical they seem to present in the taste as more earthy. This may be due to the rye in the grist but the fruitiness is subdued in the taste. No complaints just an interesting point. Pours rather dark (I suppose again the rye). Also a noticeable bitterness that is not too intense and lingers a good long time - it holds a little tartness. I like the complex aroma in which the malt shows forth along with the mix of hops. Feels bigger than the beer is for feel. A solid and interesting beer. Seems closer to an APA with the stronger malt presence. Nothing I'd crave but worth a go and a return visit too.
