fun beer right here, like nothing else. a blueberry mosaic pale ale. its super fresh mosaic, some of the most mosaicy mosaic i have seen. the nose is really bright and juicy, with s super light and delicate grain base to let these special flavors marry. i dont smell a ton of blueberry, and almost get more tart than sweet from them, but its faint. the mosaic is the real star, in all of its unique glory. the flavor surprised me a little, its like a fresh halved ruby red grapefruit, acidic and fresh, pungent, its a new side of mosaic brought out by the blueberry. usually dont see the two in combination together, and its too bad, because this fusion is special. minimal grain character and minimal bitterness as it finishes, just the fruit and the hops together in synergistic excellence. i like the more creative indeed beers than their basic styles, and this ranks among my favorites from my visit to their wonderful brewery this week. i hope they release this one on a larger scale so i can get some more down here in colorado. very unique hoppy beer.

32oz Growler

Keyport Liquors - Superior, WI

Well, let's get started with the look of this guy. There must have been a lot of blueberries added because this pale ale has taken on a hazy, dark purple hue. It looks like blueberries have been floating in the beer for a while now. The foam even takes on a blueberry hue. It looks like it used to be white and has been stained over time. The head is easy to form and though it settles to a cap and ring, it leaves behind peaks and valleys of lace.

Damn, this beer is potent! The mosaic smells like sticky weed and tropical fruits with an undercurrent of pine. The vibrant weed is what dominates while the tropical fruitiness, pineapple, papaya, and others mingle. Blueberries don't have much of an aroma anyways but the sweetness/tartness of the flesh is in there as well in small quantity. A pale malt base allows that unique hop, mosaic, and the blueberries to steal the show.My mouth is watering.

This beer...I like it. The tropical notes take the reins in the flavor department, pineapple and papaya again, but that sticky icky keeps its pace and takes over on the swallow where it's met with a flash of bold pine bringing along some bitterness. The blueberries add a touch of sweetness, a whisper of tartness, and that pulpy, fresh deliciousness. The malt profile simply lays down a softly sweet sugar cookie base.

The body has a nice weight around the middle of the spectrum with a zippy carbonation on the backend. The finish dries up slowly and leaves behind a moderate bitterness at the back of the throat. Drinkability you ask? 32oz of this beer is nowhere near enough to quench my thirst. I could drink this endlessly.

Indeed can brew. Day Tripper is one of my favorite pale ales on the planet and they managed to nail berryswell. The addition of blueberries to a single hopped pale ale, that just so happens to show some blueberry characteristics seems only natural. This is a damn good beer. Worth seeking out as a matter of fact. Find this and drink it.

Clouded, pale reddish coloration, going towards orange, more closer to apricot. Slim, staying whitish head.

Sweet, fruity nose. Moderate alpha acid bitterness rises up. It's a beautiful melange: maramalade, grapefruit, and, yeah, blueberries. Nice.

Fruit is strong in the taste at first, with hop bitterness quickly catching up. Medium-bodied, with a long, bitter finish. Fruitiness continues in the flavor, keeping perfect time with bitterness. Together, it approaches a candy-ish sweetness, with slight appearances by sour.

This is a very likable beer. And I am one who likes it.

At the brewery tap room
pours a hazy copper with a tight 1 finger head that subsides into a crown. The nose is outstanding...all the good things one associates with mosaic hops. Once it hits the tongue, though, it is a let down compared with the nose. still some nice hoppy berry flavors and a little pine and citrus as well, but very little development or depth. Very juicy but it isn't playing with the crackery and caramel malt very well. As for feel, it is on the low side for carbonation, fairly substantial body, and kind of sits there on the tongue. Fairly juicy and wet; not very dry at the end.

On tap at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis. Served in a shaker glass.

Appearance: Color is a very hazy brownish orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a slight finger of white head which fades back into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A juicy and grassy hop forward aroma with a scent of blueberry, citrus, and herbal hops. Upfront scent of blueberry puree. Citrus hop hints of grapefruit, lemon, orange peel, and pineapple. Earthy and herbal hops with some hints of grass and pine. Malt hints of grains, caramel, and yeast. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like the nose hints at, A juicy and herbal hop driven taste with notes of blueberry, citrus, and pine. Fruity upfront with some good notes of blueberry puree. Citrus hop notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, and pineapple. Also some nice floral and earthy hop notes of grass and pine. Background malt notes of grains, cracker, caramel, and yeast. A really nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and fairly oily with a lingering finish.

Overall: A pretty good twist on an American Pale Ale. Good mix of blueberry and citrus fruit notes with the pine.

Had this one on tap at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis. Beer was great looking, with a creamy head and deep copper color. The nose was full on blueberry deliciousness with a nice hop character. the taste is initially wonderful, exactly what you would expect a blueberry pale (hopped with Mosaic) to taste like. Full of fruit, but also a big hop punch in this one. The downfall of the beer was the lingering medicinal aftertaste it left in my mouth after each drink. Huge turnoff for me. I like my APA's to be crisp and bright. This one just lingered between tastes. I'm not sure what was causing this undesirable flavor on the back end, but if it was eliminated this would be a wonderful beer.
