Tasted 25 September 2013. From the can to my tulip.
Pours 95% clear, an enigmatic color, chestnut brown from some angles, a little reddish with light behind it, but different every way I look at it. Two fingers of off-white head. Good retention and excellent lacing.
Smell is full of yams and spices. Never had sweet potato pie, but this is what I imagine it would smell like. The sweetness is subdued, which is good, as yams could be sweet enough to overpower. The yams are clean, rich, and orange - nice. Spice-wise, I get a whole lot of nutmeg, with little complements around the edges that remind me of cloves and allspice.
Taste kinda falls flat. Not terrible, but just bland and mildly bitter. From just the taste, I don't know if I'd even guess this had yams in it. And the spices just barely poke their heads up when the taste is almost faded out. Not much here.
Feel is watery and dull, reminiscent of the taste. Medium-low carbonation (not enough), what's there is sorta fuzzy. Fades out rather quickly.
I wish I'd stopped at the smell. Nothing bad about it, and parts of it are quite good. But mostly, it's a pass.

This beer pours with an amber body and a thin head that sticks around.
The aroma is honestly not that appealing, it smells kinda like sweet potatoes gone bad.
HOWEVER, the flavor is solid. It tastes like a typical sweet potato casserole, but it’s not an overpowering presence. To me, it tastes like I’m drinking an amber ale after eating sweet potato casserole. The taste is there, and it doesn’t feel forced. It is nice and subtle.

If you would have set this beer along side another beer, I never would have guessed it was made from yams.
Pours dark amber with a thin head that sticks around...nose is sweet, almost like pumpkin and spice. Taste is definitely that of a sweet potato/pumpkin. Delicious!

Look: an bed pour with light 1/8 inch head poured into a 13 oz sniffer.
Smell: a strong smell of spices, a strong smell of cinnamon and nutmeg. A real festival smell to it that reminds me of thanksgiving.
Taste: cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkins pie flavor.
Mouth feel: very light and drinkable.
Overall: a pretty good seasonal beer that tastes like sweet potatoes or a strong pumpkin pie taste. I can drink a couple but don't know if in will buy a six pack again.

Look- Decent. I'm drinking it from the can, so I'm only going by artwork here.
Smell- Not good...just, not good.
Taste- Actually really nice! It's too bad this doesn't smell like it tastes. All the typical spices you would expect from this type of seasonal brew. I really like that the spices toe the line of strong/too much without going over, that's where I like my flavor.
Feel- Highly carbonated, works well for this beer.
Overall- This is a pretty good seasonal beer that I'll probably get again next year to share that Thanksgiving.

12oz can, sample from brewery.
Minimal lacing, hazed amber. Mild spicing with some yamma and toasted malt in the nose and on the palate. Very light hopping, hint of alcohol. A decent sip, nothing really jumps out. Good balance from the spicing.
