The wife and I visited my niece and her beer-loving boyfriend, and they asked to meet at World of Beer Naperville. Apparently it is the boyfriend’s favorite place in town. I was a little skeptic, because I’ve been to other WOB’s and, while good, they aren’t anything extraordinary.

But the selection here is really good,, at least when I stopped by. Suffice it to say that we had Dogfish Raison d’Extra, and I was floored by how delicious the 10% version of the infamous Not Your Father’s Root Beer was. The menu is divided in Belgian/Specialty/Cider/Dark&Bold/Hop Forward and so on.

The atmosphere is sterile, suburban, corporate- what you expect from World of Beer, and our server was so brusque and in-your-face, it was almost funny. But hey, if you’re in Naperville, this ain’t bad at all.

I went on a Bourbon County tap night which obviously there was a lot of people but disappointed at the amount of staff for such an event. A lot to choose from, but nothing stellar that stands out......besides the BCS!

I thought that this place is pretty nice, only one thing that I don't like about it was they need to at least double, if not triple the space that they have for seating. The atmosphere is a nice sports bar atmosphere that is tipped towards beer snobs. I don't mind having to go across the street to get food, just make sure that you go with a group of people, so nobody takes your seat!

We were having dinner at Naf Naf a few yards away, so it seemed like this was the obvious place for an after dinner drink. It's located in a newer strip mall sort of place with a few nearby restaurants. Highly recommend Naf Naf Grill (thanks to thewimperoo for the first introduction).

Corner entrance, there's a large entryway, then the place gets crammed with tables and a curved bar front and center. Not the most user friendly layout on a busy weekend night. Big crowd for the hawks game, pretty much standing room only. Loud. Vibe was sort of sports bar centric with a few beer signs tacked up here and there. Can't say that it was comfortable really, pretty generic bar vibe.

Service was fast and friendly, they were out of the Destihl Adambier so I went with an Off Color Apex Predator. They did offer taster size glasses, which was nice. Plenty of crafts and imports to choose from. There was a sidewalk board advertising Daisy Cutter. Long bottle/can list. Something for everyone without a ton of macro filler though I'm sure they could be had.

Overall it was an alright place, likely the best for the area, so I can appreciate the selection more. Probably would return some afternoon with carry out from Naf Naf for a couple beers.

So initially I was very excited when this place came to town. I went when it was fairly we and honestly was very disappointed. Broad selection of brews but nothing we can't get at the local Binny's. I commented on their Facebook page and the manager said to give them some time to build their distro network. Ok so I waited about another 6 months or so. Checked our their selection again on beermenus and was now impressed. They listed KBS and a few other things available. Went in and none were available. When I questioned it they said they never update beermenus and I should only check their site. Uhhgg. No food either?!?! You can bring food in or order from local places? If I wanted to feel like I was back in college I would go to a frat party. But then I got excited as someone mentioned the manager had a cool cellar you could buy from. Checked it out and nothing really all that special in it but I then found out that if I wanted to have the honor of buying something in it I would have to join a club. Uhhg again .

After finally getting the opportunity to visit Solemn Oath, I figured, since I was still in the area, I'd stop at a nice little bar. This place is very similar to the Beer Market near me in Vernon Hills, a beer-focused bar without food that boasts plenty of taps and bottles. Fair enough. I sat down and ordered a flight (always a good feature) from the bartender who seemed like she knew her stuff. (I know I overheard her talking with another customer about his bottle of Aecht Schlenkerla.) The selection was pretty solid, with some uncommon offerings from Bell's, Solemn Oath, Dark Horse, Revolution, and Firestone Walker. They also have their own chain-wide contract brew from Bavik. The prices were pretty decent for the area. Overall, if I ever find myself back in Naperville, I'd have no problem with another visit here. Good times.

This WOB is what I imagine every WOB to be like: clean, new, excellent quality control, and huge selection. If every restaurant and brewpub strived to meet those standards, the world would be a beautiful place. But, of course, WOB is perhaps a little too clean, new, and huge, and for that reason it lacks the character of a truly great local place. But that is a minor gripe. Cities that have a WOB are better off than cities that don't. Go here.

Was in Naperville for work, so walked into the parking lot for a beer.

Atm- Large open airy place, with some outside seating and a stage inside. A long, semi L bar with a lot loft feel. Wood, metal, glass all over. Had a few TVs going as well.

Quality- Had a lot to offer from the tap and even had the proper glassware to go with it. Had a large selection of regional US beers in bottle and a shared amount of imports. I did not notice BMC around if there was any.

Service- Nice enough bar staff. Offered tasters and willing to talk about local options. Didnt spend enough time to really chat.

Selection- Rating high for the amount on tap. A lot to offer with taps, nitro, bottles and a lot of locals to the area. Wouldve liked to see more one off kegs, but oh well.

Food- N/A

Value- I spent $14 on 3 beers. Not bad.

Stopped in on the day they opened and one other time so far. Has a high-end "neighborhood" bar feel. Open, airy feel with lots of seating, including a patio area (no seating yet) where you can smoke, and they do offer cigars at a fair price.

Serve about 50 beers on tap with about 500 in bottles, good mix of American craft beer and decent imports, heavy focus on American craft. First brewery highlight on tap was from Solemn Oath in Naperville. Others are planned about every 2 weeks. Pour and presentation is very good.

Service is very friendly, attentive, but knowledge is still developing. Not a deal or buzz kill, but considering they provide their staff with an in-depth training program before they begin serving, I thought they would be a little more knowledgeable about their in-house offerings and programs (such as the Tour of Belgium - for every 8 samples of belgian beer, you get an entry for a trip for two to Belgium - none of the servers I've had so far knew of the program). Again, not a deal killer, but it is their program.

Prices are reasonable and they do run tap specials all the time (remember, no happy hour in Illinois, so reduced prices are for the entire day).

I will definitely make this a frequent stop, as it is on my way home from work.

Although they do not offer any food, they will let you bring in food from the many restaurants in the outdoor mall where they are located and will send runners to pick up food for you.
