A clear, straw gold body is topped by a white head that holds OK, then drops to a decent collar and whispy surface foam. Surprisingly, it leaves some lace around the glass. The aroma is a combination of malt & hop that's oddly similar to the smell you first encounter when entering a bar. I've never had a beer with a nose quite like this, and I had to question the bottle's age - but everything else about it seems fresh! The aroma's actually better than the generic "beer" aroma that some macro brews have. At least the hops are somewhat discernable from the malt. The body is medium with a fine and moderate carbonation that leaves it creamy in the mouth. Nice. Far from watery. The flavor offers a much richer malt character than I'd expected from the appearance, although it does remain quite basic. A light hop flavor follows and the bitterness is well balanced leaving a dry finish. I was surprised at almost every turn with this beer. I'd underestimated it. It's a well-brewed and well-balanced lager, and although it's quite basic, would be perfectly acceptable while vacationing in Bolivia. Nothing special, but not bad.
