Our smooth Gold Lager starts with caramel malt aromas that are subtle yet pronounced. A kiss of Perle hops offers a touch of bitterness and incredible balance to its robust body. This beer is a tribute to a real Des Moines original. A staple in the 1950’s bar scene, Ruthie was the finest woman to ever serve a beer in our capital city.

Had this on tap. Came in a gold colour with a hint of orange and a thin white head. Faint lacing. Not much by way of smell but it did have - along with the taste - toasted cereal/grain notes. Nothing stands out per se for taste. No bitterness. Elevate carbonation. Pretty straightforward lager. Very light and easy to drink. I did enjoy it overall.

Clear, golden body; sparse carbonation; thin, white head. Pleasant grainy nose. The taste followed along the lines of the smell; medium bitterness. Medium body feel; crisp with a mild bite on the palate.
A well-made and refreshing Midwestern lager.

Not a proper review as I wolfed down this one at the Amana Oktoberfest, following a 11 miles run in the morning. I was quite hungry and thirsty. It is very clear yellow/gold color and well carbonated. It was on the sweet/malty side not very hoppy. Tasted good, although nothing to write home about.

Deep, medium gold look. Slight, brightness to the smell. Medium roast grain and lager aroma, with an herbal/floral, hop note. Flavors of a slightly spiced, medium light toasted grain, with very little hop bite, the flavors are a bit light.

Older bottle, but still tastes great. Mildly sweet cereal grains balanced well by grassy, spicy hops. Not czech-style bitter, but more like a blonde ale or kolsch. Can tell they pay attention to cleanliness and water profile. very solid

I tried this beer at the brewery as part of an EIGHTEEN BIG D (Mega) sample flight. It poured a clear golden with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had grain and yeast hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and slight biscuit presence. The mouthefeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.
