A - Way too loud, even downstairs.

Q - The beer quality of selection wasn't all that impressive given that they've probably got the best selection in Colonial Williamsburg. Still good, just not what I would have hoped.

S - Our wait staff was slow, and one of my beer orders came out wrong.

S - The beer selection was diverse; they had everything from obscurist American IPAs to decent German, British and Belgian ales and lagers.

F - My father-in-law wasn't blown away by his meal, but everyone else at the table was. Outstanding food made it worth the wait. The second-best food, unto itself, in Colonial Williamsburg, and given that they have the best beer selection available, it's definitely my favorite place in that neighborhood.

V - Colonial Williamsburg. Ergo, pricey.

Outstanding place in the middle of Colonial Williamsburg, VA. Atmosphere is very nice, eclectic menu and food. An amazing selection of beers on tap and in bottle, lots of goodies that you don't see anywhere else. Staff is very knowledgable and prices are reasonable

Same selection as when I went half a year ago. I like to try new beers and walked out without a purchase. Nice atmosphere, hopefully not the same awful owner as their bottle shop.

I come here often. It's in the most tourist-centric part of town so if you're coming to eat or looking for a place to sit I'd suggest reservations.

The beer list is great. On tap is a relatively small list but some great offerings that move fast. They get some great offerings and they'll fill a growler of just about everything except for something like KBS (which they charge $10 per 5 oz pour so not sure anyone would pay that anyway). They have a good combination of local (Alewerks, Hardywood) semi local (Blue Mountain) American Craft (Stone, Founders) and imports (BFM). Alewerks brews an ESB exclusively for them, which I think is pretty cool. Bottle list is far more expansive.

Food is okay. I feel like it's overpriced but decent. It's one of the better options in the area for sure.

Service is fine. Depends on who you get like anywhere but last time I was there I had a bartender looking through me while I was trying to pay while others walked past. Four people at the bar so not sure what the deal was.

It's great if you're a tourist looking for a beer list in the Colonial area, but there are less expensive options that get the same things around otherwise.

Stopped in yesterday for a bite to eat and a pint.

Vibe was OK, this sits in a major tourist area so you have mostly middle aged and younger seniors that compose the customer base. And yes I am one of those middle aged people LOL!

Quality of the beers offered were good. The brews on tap were 3.75 IMO and the bottle list was 4.25. Da Boss had a Scottish ale and I had the Founders Oatmeal Stout on Nitro.

Da Boss and I sat at the second bar. The main bartender was a bit snooty and took awhile to warm up. Once I chatted him up he warmed up a bit and clued me into some regional breweries to visit.

Selection was pretty solid, the bottle list was very good.

We split the Fish and Chips. The fish was flavorless and greasy and the fries were undercooked.

Overall not a bad experience but definitely overrated.

Located in the tourist-heavy Merchant's Square, DoG St Pub is part of a larger syndicate of restaurants in the area (all of which serve good food, to be honest). There is indoor/outdoor seating, and true to its name, your pooch can tag along for an outside meal. The place revs up pretty early, and stays that way thanks to a tourist/townie combo. The foods are rich, the beers are varied. There are always local brews that are constantly rotating (they're heavy on the Legend (Richmond)and Alewerks (Williamsburg), as well as their own house brand of course), and they make good picks on their imports as well.
