Bought on a whim at the local Scottish bakery. Served with a fresh Shepherd's pie. Poured from can into nonic pint glass. Really dark for a shandy, tawny/amber/copper color with a finger of rocky, honeycomb head. Foam is here and gone, no lacing to speak of. Aroma is fruit, sweet caramel. Taste is more ale than lemon, with definite malt/floral/biscuit flavors coming through the sweetness. Very refreshing, would go well on a hot day as a mower ale.

330 ml can with a BB date of July 2016.
Enjoyed in Abernethy, Scotland.
At .5% ABV, it is a bit impressive that this bears some resemblance to Bass Ale.

Pours with a much darker color than expected: brown body.

Aroma: As much hops and malt as lemon.

Light and lively body.

O: More beer flavor and aroma than most shandys, albeit with a rather poor beer flavor. Sweet, tart and bitter in that order.

A 330ml can with a BB of Oct 2014. Picked up from a supermarket a while back. A shandy made with Bass ale - not technically produced by Bass but as it uses their beer I reckon it's fair game for a review.

A: Poured into a tulip. A clear coppery-caramel colour with low carbonation. Forms a small head of frothy foam that dissipates almost instantly.

S: Aroma of subtle caramel malt, a hint of fruity ale yeast, mild lemonade and faint stewed leaves. More beery than I'd expected.

T: Tastes of sweet lemonade with a touch of ale. Hints of sugar, lemonade, subtle caramel malt and faint fruity yeast. Sweet with a mild finish that doesn't linger.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and a thin, light body. Aftertaste of mild lemonade and a twinge of ale.

O: S'alright - basically a soft drink flavoured with beer. Light lemon and caramel malt, with a fairly watery body. Better than most shandies; the lemon is more subdued and the ale flavour slightly more prominant as a result. Quenches a thirst - quite good if you like this sort of drink. Worth trying.
