Wonderful pilsener from Dortmund/North-Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. Bought this in a green 500ml bottle in my local supermarket for 0,75 € plus 0,08 € deposit. The grassy, hoppy smell is amazing. Couldnt get better for a pilsener than this. Lovely, fresh hoppiness coming right into my nose, which I really love.
The taste is wonderful. Nice maltiness with a perfect hoppy aftertaste. Thats how every pilsener should be in my eyes! I really dont feel any metallic taste at all. I really dont get the bad reviews here talking about a mysterious metallic taste...Dont believe them! This stuff is amazing! Very easy to drink and the quality of this beer is very high! Plus the price is more than fair. 5/5 for this brew, no discussion! Forget the bad reviews on the Brinkhoff's No.1. I highly recommend this pilsener! One of Germany's finest pilsener style beers!

Bottle, 330 ml. I had this first time in Berlin but I lost my review, really glad I found it again.Bought in Kleve, Germany this time. Poured into a footed pilsner glass. Pour is okay, nice head, two fingers in height, soapy and snow white. Good retention and heavy lacing in my glass. Average activity in the glass. Beer is pale golden in colour Not bad smell either, mostly malts but balanced with the hops. Okay, maybe the scale turns a bit more on the malts side. Taste is sweet and kinda weird, reminds me a sort of cake or something. On the finish, it turns to a long lasting bit terness. Average carbonation on a thin to medium body. Dry on the palate. Not a bad one, I would say on the average side.

Catch up rating. Nice crisp, clean pilsener! Pleasant surprise, poured into stemmed pilsener glass, one finger white head and a pale golden body with nice active carbonation. Refreshing, nice mix of malt and hops for a clean finish.

Green 0.5 litre bottle, best before the end of Nov 2011, poured into two Veltins badged stemmed tulip glasses.

Looks the archetypal Pilsner, clear, clean and bright: golden and light. On top the usual white top which never really has any staying power and goes before the beer gets to your lips.

The smell is grainy grass and not much else.

A very dry Pilsner, otherwise not much going on.

Crisp, sharp and refreshing, not the No1 Pilsner, just an average one.

Damn, this is one good pilsener! I bought this bottle somewhere last year. The bottle showed best before september 2010. What the hell, i will drink it anyway.

Pleasant surprise this pilsener. Poured in my Dutch beerglass the beer looks good, one finger white head and a yellow fluid with GOOD carbonation. You don't see that very often with a german pilsener.

Very drinkable on a hot day like today. When you see it try it!

.5L, best before April 2011.

Pours a clear, effervescent light gold. Nice lacing on the glass.

Aroma is very pungent and noble-hoppy, with the typical sulfuric lager notes. Nice.

Flavor is at first fine, with a solid biscuity malt character to balance the bitterness. Lots of flowery, grassy and medicinal hops. Unfortunately, this Pils is really metallic and aluminum-like, reminiscent of touching a battery to your tongue. This metallic sensation even affects the mouthfeel, which is chalky and rough. Beer fail.

I don't know about this one. It's got decent hop flavor, but it's too metallic to drink. Drain-pour.

A: The beer is clear light yellow in color with a finger high bright white head that slowly died down leaving lacy patterns of bubbles on the surface. A light amount of carbonation is visible from the rising bubbles.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of grassy and floral hops in the nose.
T: The overall taste has an excellent balance - there are some hints of sweetness from the malts that are contrasted by a mild amount of bitterness from the hops.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and is both very crisp and clean. There is some dryness in the finish. A light amount of carbonation is perceptible.
D: The beer is quite refreshing and really opens up your palate.

Pours a clear yellow color with a crisp white head that fades quickly leaving very little lacing around the glass.

Smell is very faint, not really much going on here.

Taste is far better than the smell, that being said it's similar to Grolsch but with less carbonation. Starts out with a leathery bite that then changes to a floral hop flavor that has a watery finish and leaves a very faint lingering aftertaste of leather.

Decent beer, not to heavy, not complex, just normal. I wouldn't go out of my way to find this, but wouldn't pass it up if it where on the self or tap in front of me.

This beer looked great! A big frothy head, very inviting for a pils! It smelled ok, cereal and bitter. Tasted the same, though I was a bit disappointed, it just wasn't a taste I enjoyed. it was a little skunky. Some citrus and other notes. Carbonated like you'd expect from a pils, not overbearing though. Definitely a little more complex than your average pils, which is a good thing. Light and easy to drink, though I'd prefer something else, thank you.

A - Classic pilsner appearance, golden with a fresh frothy lacey head. Lacing visible throughout glass.

S - First thing to hit me is freshly cut grass, strong bitter hops, faint hint of malt but hops do overpower.

T- Compared to UK mass market swill this is to die for. Loads of hop character, malt comes through well in the end, to provide a wonderfully balanced pilsner, some hops in the aftertaste. Lots of character indeed.

M - High carbonation,dry, very refreshing.

D- I think this is highly drinkable. Really wish i could get this locally with ease, it would be a go to pilsner for me. Could drink all night for its character and thirst quenching qualities

Served at the Zapravochniy beer bar in central Moscow. Came in an unlabeled straight cylindrical mug with a handle. Color was clear deep gold under a one finger white head with some body and good staying power that generated lots of lace. The nose is fresh and crisp, with a hint of hop but not much malt. The mouth is of medium carbonation and somewhat light body. The taste features a good smooth malt opening, but the main feature is the classic German pils bitterness. There's a good dry hop finish, leaving a coffee grind bitter in the jowels. Nice.
