L: Opaque near black white a small foamy tan brown head and minimal lacing
S: Faint hot chocolate and roasted coffee malts and a bit musty at first, sweet floral hops became more dominant later.
T: Quite strong coffee roasted malts hit at first with a light sweetness and faint bittersweet chocolate. The hops add a slight herbal peppery astringency. Has a lingering but pleasant aftertaste. Surprisingly not very bitter.
F: Rather light and smooth with minimal foamy carbonation and just a bit of thickness.
O: Very reminiscent of cold black coffee, I like it. Strong but not crazy, still very drinkable.

Poured from a Canadian tall boy can (473 ml). I'm new to black IPA, but this seemed like a good example of the style. It was sufficiently hoppy for my taste buds and had a roasted malt quality. I'd buy it again, though this can had a date from somewhat early in the year. Maybe I'll find fresher cans at another store.

2 in a row for Big Rig! Kudos! 2nd Big Rig brew that i have tried and both have been nice quality brews. This Black IPA is impressive. Forward nose of floral & citrus hops. Pours hazy dark brown/black, with a full light brown, thick head, very good retention and lacing. Flavors are well balanced with roasted sweet malts, hints of chocolate and roasted nuts to tame forward hops. Doesn't taste like 75 IBU's as stats show. 473 ml can

Pours dark almost black with a thick creamy parchment coloured head with moderate lacing. Aroma: piney citrus Flavour: Espresso bean that clashes a little with the hopping leaving a somewhat metalic effect. I fon’t know the style but from the colour expected more malt balance and more complexity of flavour. Pleasant, but underwhelming in the end.

Dark brown resilient 1 finger tan cap - decent aroma of roasty malts and floral notes - flavor is rich and hoppy roasty, toasty, velvet with a sturdy body and a dry, roasty but decently bitter finish - a very serviceable Cascadia ale made for sessions.

Well, I can't say it wasn't fresh...2 days from canning.
Look is a deep brown/black with a fluffy off-white head of about 2 inches. The head is slow to break, and there is decent lacing when it does. The smell is char and some mild cat box. It isn't pleasant. I'm surprised given this is two days from canning. The taste is better, it has some char notes and some decent hop flavor, but it stops there...there isn't much more there. The feel is lightish with decent carbonation.
Well, I wasn't expecting a masterpiece. It's a bit of a mess, and not what I'd call a good black ale.
