I picked this up as part of a build-your-own six pack for $9.99 at the Binny's store in Bloomingdale, IL. 12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

The beer poured a clear, pale gold color and made a 1½-finger white head that lasted a few minutes. Unfortunately, it left very little lacing on the glass or it would have gotten a higher appearance score.

The beer had a citrusy pineapple and lemon smell, along with some grassy hops.

Grassy and citrus hops give this lager a significant dose of bitterness. Lots of lemon and lemon zest flavor with some bready malts thrown in for balance. There's a touch of peppery spice in here as well.

Light bodied with moderate to medium carbonation.

I think this is much better than what we usually refer to as a lawnmower beer.

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Superb looking froth, the clarity is even better. Aromas of lemon zest, fresh cut grass and a faint green onion. Brisk crispness, very bready with a dough-like character throughout. Peppery hop bitterness, very grassy with a thick oily floral tone. Very well rounded and most certainly drinkable, these hoppy lagers win me over.

Served in a tumbler.

I've been reticent about these guys after the resurrection no one asked for (AKA Baderbrau), but I've heard promising things about this stuff, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It pours a clear sunrise brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises mild lemon zest, grass (how appropriate, eh?), a hint of white bread, and a soft peck-on-the-cheek of leek. The taste brings in more of the same, the lemon peel and grass doing some nice work together. Cooperation at its finest. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a pretty tasty beer, nothing mind-expanding, but the softness and nigh-subtlety really work well here. Not bad at all.

A: Center pour into a pilsner glass, color is pale yellow with an abundant head that leaves behind a nice lace.

S: Aromas of citrus, grass and bready malt.

T: Taste is crisp, a little lemon/grapefruit bitterness and a creamy malt character.

M: Medium body with light carbonation, oily finish with some floral notes.

O: A good take on the IPL style and a pretty decent no nonsense beer. And @ 5.5% abv. I cant wait for some hot days and a lawn to cut. I have enjoyed both new styles from baderbrau enough that I might have to go and hit up the original.
