12oz snifter at the brewery for $6.

A very dark brown, with a modest sized mocha colored head that dropped quickly. Spotty, streaky lace.

Sweet and bitter maltiness in the aroma. The chocolate comes through, but not massively so. More in the background is a coffeeish bitterness, but it's not a terribly big bitterness. Just enough to keep the chocolate from getting too uppity. No sign of the cherries or the alcohol content in the aroma.

The taste is where the cherries are found. They're second fiddle to the chocolate, but not too far, and things meld really well. Not much hop flavor to this.

Coating yet thin mouthfeel. This is my biggest criticism of this beer, as I think it could be thickened up a little.

A sweet and fruity stout, with no sign of it's rather high alcohol content. Not a bad sweet interpretation of the style, but it won't please someone looking for something along the lines of an Old Rasputin. Could do worse than this if you've a hankering for a dessert beer.
