Glass poured from a growler purchased at the brewery for $12. This was the first Iron Goat Beer I drank when they had their grand opening celebration at Jones Radiator, but one of the owners assures me that the recipe has already been refined since then, as they’ve broken in their new, pro system. Interestingly enough, the hops used in this beer originate in the Southern Hemisphere.

Poured a dark orange-amber color with just a little bit of chill haze and a creamy, beige head that dropped somewhat quickly but left lots of lace on the sides of my pint glass.

Pine sap and citrus fruits are in the nose, along with a little bit of bready malt scent.

A big hop attack hits the tastebud beachhead, with lots of citrusy sweetness and tartness. Right after that, a nearly equal amount of bitterness kicks in, providing a pleasant balance and keeping things from drifting off to fruity kool-aid land. The malts are very subordinate, riding quietly along in the background. The finish is pleasingly dry.

Medium bodied, with an oily and resiny mouthfeel.

I quite like this beer and welcome it’s arrival in the local beer scene. I can see myself either regularly drinking this at one of my locals or stopping in for a pint or a growler at the brewery. Unfortunately, it will not be brewed again until the fall, but their regular IPA and their pale ale are quite tasty too, so I’ll survive until then.

22oz bottle, another cool offering brought back by IronDjinn from his recent trip through Idaho panhandle country - thanks, man!

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some Rand McNally lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of grainy, bready caramel malt, faint citrus and pine needle astringencies, some soft mineral flintiness, and a further leafy, herbal, and earthy hop bitterness. The taste is semi-sweet bready and pastry-like caramel malt, a gritty toffee sweetness, weak dark orchard fruit, soft pine needle and overripe citrus rind bitters, and a tame bristling alcohol warmth.

The bubbles are fairly understated in their genial and accommodating frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and well smooth, with a burgeoning creaminess that belies any snooping booziness. It finishes trending sweet, as the complex caramel and fruity hoppiness keeps it all within arm's reach.

A pleasant and engaging DIPA, the malt really stepping up, and not allowing the amped up ABV to really have any gustatory input on matters. Well worthy of seeking out, not for its particular uniqueness, but for its overall ease of use, if you get my drift.

Poured into my SN IPA glass from a growler that traveled 3000+ miles to get to me.
Thank you @woemad for sendig it.
Appearance: Poured a lite golden amber with a thick foamy 2 finger head. Great Lacing.
Aroma: Pine Resin and malt are the first aroma. Some citrus wafts in on the back end.
Taste: The hops smack the taste buds right in their tiny faces. A Big wallop of Resiny Piney hop taste up front. Finishes with some sweeter tangerine type citrus flavors. While no where near balanced there is a really nice malt prescence in the flavor.
Mouthfeel Good body, nice Hop Wallop up front with a great finsih.
Overall: A Very good DIPA. If this was local to me I would pick it up regularly
