The Blond Omen, a "harbinger of things to come", offers a clear, light straw-gold colored body beneath a thin head of white lace. The head retention is limited and lacing is all but non-existent. There's a bit of mild sugar in the nose with some light phenolics, but it remains otherwise barren. It's delicately crisp on the tongue with a medium--light body. The flavor is lightly phenolic with a delicate, candyish maltiness; and it finishes dry, plastic-like, and a slight touch chalky. It's an odd beer. I asked the server and bartender what the style was, but they simply repeated "Abbey Ale". It seems like a tripel, but it doesn't have the girth, the richness, or the warmth. Not bad... no flaws, just 'lacking'.
