Double IPA

When we first brewed Duckpin, our little session-style pale ale, it really hit the spot for a go-to, anytime refresher. But we soon felt like we were just practicing. Knocking down all those little Duckpins just made us thirsty for something bigger! So we went back to the brewhouse and doubled down on malts and hops. The result is a double IPA that’s danker than a rental shoe and rolling with ten frames of juicy, resinous hops down a solid lane of malted barley and wheat. When it’s time to bring your A game, reach for a Double.

BITTERNESS (IBU): 90
COLOR: Light Orange
MALT: Pale Ale, Wheat, Carahell, Munich
HOPS: Cascade, Mosaic, CTZ, Amarillo, Galaxy

Clear bright amber/gold appearance with an average size off white colored head and decent lacing. Citrus is there in the aroma but not pronounced, with resin adding an extra dimension. Hits the taste buds just right as a blitz of hops and enough bready malts maintain balance. Aftertaste displays more citrus but stays bitter with just the right amount of alcohol burn. Medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel and a lasting finish.

Pours a dark murky golden. This is not a good looking beer in the lightest. Luckily, it's intensely aromatic. Getting peach and mango on the nose. More citrusy in flavor, although there's an underlying unripe mango, papaya character to the body. It's very much a lime/grapefruit peel show though. It's refreshing in flavor, but could more refreshing overall if not for the thick body. The first time and possibly the last time I had this was during ACBF 2014. It was one of the most impressive beers at that fest and while I'm sure it has changed some to adhere to people's change in tastes (see Hazy IPAs), it is still a very good beer.

Pretty decent DIPA. Served on tap in a snifter. Light gold in color. Nice aromas of pine and caramel malt, pineapple and grapefruit. Nice balance flavors with pineapples, papaya playing with pine resin and grapefruit, nice biscuit/caramel.

Had on draft, 12 oz pour. Nice haze, not a lot on the nose but slightly dank, hoppy taste. Overall a nice IPA.

Slightly hazy deep gold, finger of white head, not much retention but good lace.
Aromas of grapefruit, currant, pine and dank
Flavor follows aroma, grapefruit goes from juice to pith.
Fairly light given ABV, good carbonation, not boozy
Pretty decent

Canned 11/25/15; drank 12/26/15 @ the Stained Carpet.

Drank straight from the can; no visual cues.

Grapefruit, pineapple & sweet orange citrus notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Grapefruit & pineapple flavors up front; caramel notes on the finish. Sweet orange citrus notes emerged as this warmed. No booze heat.

Fruit forward but very balanced; quite tasty.
