My first Doppelbock. And yes, there is a goat on the label. A rather demonic looking one at that.

A: Cherry-red/brown, with a finger of tan head that dissipates quickly leaving a light skin of lacing on top.

S: In a word, heavy. Dark bread, low on sweetness. A bit smokey.

T: Based on the smell, I have a feeling that this beer is not one for me. But hey, there's something to be said for a new experience, right? Heavy, with heat from the alcohol. It's not really bitter and it's definitely not sweet. I think I'm mostly just picking up alcohol. I'd like to be detecting dark fruits or malty flavours, but mostly I'm just picking up whisky. Not a beer for me. If I wanted something that tasted like whisky, I wouldn't be drinking beer.

F: Crisp on the tongue, with high alcohol content for sure.

O: One and done. Never again. I'm considering pouring it down the drain. Life's too short to drink beer you don't enjoy.

A: Deep brown, about a finger of thin amber head
S: Toasted malts, fruity-plum, definite sweet whisky notes in the background
T: Rich and malty, fairly sweet, burnt sugar and slightly fruity notes, fairly strong whisky presence (JD-like taste)
M: Medium body, very rich, the whisky notes really smooth out this one, finish is quite sweet and sticky
O: Not your traditionaly doppelbock, but extremely well-done, the aging in whisky barrels really gives this beer an added level of complexity that makes this a fantastic offering
