A- This one pours a reasonably clear dark cherry cola color....good clarity! The foamy head starts out around one finger in thickness, is dark tan in color and settles rather quickly into a thick film over the brew. Lacing is modest at best with just small amounts of circular foam beads quickly sinking back into the liquid and of course it is too hard to see what is happening carbonation wise. Above average at best for looks.....

S- The general aroma is weak, but what I do detect is like a boozy cherry scented syrup that would be contained inside of a Christmas chocolate....some biscuit quality, muted barley grains, some mild chocolate malts and unmalted barley grains....not much else as it's clean....perhaps some Earthy dryness but really not much else.

T- This has tart cherry juice all over it, with cranberry tartness, un-sweet chocolate, artificial cherry flavoring as there is a metallic quality about it that just doesn't sit right on my palate, and phony adjunct that leaves a bittering astringency that I don't really care for.....it lingers on the finish as well.......this must be what the morgue tastes like lol....

M/O- Thin bodied, with reasonable carbonation I'd say.....there is something off about this one in general, as I feel like it is much too fresh, in a bad way. I feel like it needs real cherry in the mash and needs full on malt w/o whatever additives have been used. The wagon didn't want me on it anyways, so says the label, and I jumped off....an ugly thud and roll ensued. Pass on this one....Parallel 49, like a lot of their brews, need to scrap this recipe and use some sober second thought before approving.

650ml bottle - a Cherry Baltic Porter. Great name for a brew for this time of the year, though some of us just kept pushing on this past January the first.

This beer pours a clear, dark red-tinted brown colour, with one finger of puffy, finely foamy, and yet fizzy beige head, which leaves some decent approaching landfall lace around the glass as it quickly sinks out of sight.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, mildly tart cherries, a hint of free-range ashiness, some oily bar-top nuts, faint cafe-au-lait, and some plain earthy, musty, and floral noble hop bitters. The taste is muddled black stone fruit, gritty and grainy caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa powder, stale coffee, an indistinct nuttiness, subtle wet char, and more understated leafy, herbal, and floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-supporting frothiness, the body a solid medium weight, and mostly smooth, with maybe just a touch of fruit acridity making a minor fuss here. It finishes off-dry, the malty essences parrying some mild lingering cherry character.

Overall - this comes across as a pleasantly flavourful offering, even if the cherry puree addition isn't all that consistent at times. Not to mention the essentially well-hidden 17-proof booze quotient, which just increases the appeal of this particular broken resolution.

Parallel 49 Brewing 'Broken Resolution' @ 8.5% , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $5.50
A-pour is a dark cola brown from the bottle to a near black in the glass with a thin tan head which is quickly dissapating leaving a thin lace ring along the pint
S-cherry
T-cherry syrup baltic porter
MF-moderate carbonation , feels full bodied
Ov-too much cherry sweetness for a baltic porter ,
