vibe: 4.75 | quality: 4 | service: 4.75 | selection: 4.5 | food: 4.75
Vibe: A family friendly feel during the day and a younger crowd at night. More of a lunch and dinner spot than a late night hangout spot.
Quality: The in house ale is pretty solid but nothing special. Slightly above average for Portland.
Service: The service is excellent.
Selection: They a good selection of PDX and Oregon ciders on tap, a respectable selection of in house ales and a few wines. I go here for the cider selection, not their ale.
Food: The food is outstanding. On par with an above average restaurant in Portland and way better the bar food of your average brewpub.
Overall: I go here for the food & cider and sometimes the ale. Service & atmosphere is nice too.

One of the frustrations of this place is that their website and tap list is always inaccurate. Was there today and 2 of the 4 beers I had do not exist on the website, tap list, etc. I’d gladly add them to BA as both we’re good but what can ya do when the brewery doesn’t give any info to work with.

Sixteenth stop on the Great 2017 Extended Play Beer Tour. Wednesday dinner, 6pm.
Park behind the building. Seems like canines are not allowed, but very family friendly, half the tables had kids. Three sections for seating, including the bar area.
About a dozen beers in tap, plus a few ciders and wines. Small food menu, primarily burgers & sandwiches.
A good place to go if you have kids in tow.

A fantastic brewpub that keeps me coming back for more. A great variety of beers that truly do not taste as if they have all been brewed in the same vat with an eclectic menu of food choices ranging from comfort to semi-exotic. Try the burger specials, which vary over time - always delightful. The fried chicken, not to be confused with the 'heart attack in a box' variety, is excellent. Happy hour specials are good if you go early. As a side note, they do sell half-barrels of their great beer and the prices are very competitive.

On the heels of lunch somewhere too involved to scribble notes at (It would be nice if you pitched in and lent a hand sometimes). Not sure how this place got on our radar, someboy knew something. We mapped via convoluted GPS (tool of the devil) directions but recovered cutting through a residential complex just behind it. And then Phil vanished to get a smoke (shocker) and I braved the place myself...
It’s new, or newish; don’t know how so, but yes, and they did a nice job of it. Looks like a 3 building structure, or pieces of places expanded into and from. Entry into a smallish room on the end with a straight bar to the rear; pieced plank wood topped, a panel base, and seating for 5 on rectangular stools. Stainless steel bar tower with 12 non descript handles on the bar in front of me. The barback holds a 4 x 6 horizontal mirror strung baby white lighting lined, a wine & cider box in the corner alongside a bunch of wines countered, and glassware shelved below. Tulip & wine glasses dangle from a rack on the underside of the bar overhang, and a long narrow board sits mounted atop listing tap selections in colored chalk.
The walls of wood paneling, all around, but only to 4/5 to the sides, the uppers of a white stucco; the sills lined with growlers and pint glasses, and a brown painted ceiling with blended duct work. Track spots over & behind the bar, and drop bowl lampage otherwise. 4 square tables off the bar; 3 of them to one side below vintage framed city prints of old time Portland. Sasquatch foot mold mounted on the front wall next to sliding windows; one to each side of the doorway and shortys above. Portland, OR, 1881 map on the near wall, an ancient Zenith stand up radio (pretty bad ass), Sasquatch shirts displayed for sale, and a Sasquatch doll in the front corner.
Down a little hallway past look into kitchenings and into the side room; brown & white with framed pics, a board with beerings and cheese & meats, and 10 tables for the sitting at. And through to the side side room, olive with brown trim, 8 tables, a mounted deer head, a single flat screen in the front corner, and a 2/3 wall to the rear partially concealing a peek-a-boo 7 barrel brewing system (I see you back there!) And out front, an awning out front over some of the seating; 4 metal roundies on one end, and 3 wood picnics umbrella’d on the further down.
5 house beers on the sampler (Woodboy IPA, 6.8%, Cascade & Centennial, citrus, pine, floral; Dry Hopped Woodboy IPA, 6.8%, on Cascade, nicely floral, big citrusy mouthful; Untimely Summer Ale, 4.8%, light, crisp, easy, little hop bite; Bertha Brown Ale, 5.3%, roasty, chocolate malt; Healy Heights Pale Ale, 5.6%, which had kicked, so the sampler came with just 4), in little little glasses. The Dry Hopped Woodboy IPA & Bretha Brown Ale were the best of ‘em. And they’ve also got guest taps; 4 regional beers (Upright #4 Saison, Boneyard Diablo Rojo, Terminal Gravity Breakfast Porter, Everybody’s Daily Bread Common Ale), and 2 ciders (Wandering Aengus Apple & Pear).
We didn’t get to the food due to the earlier aforementioned lunch but there were some things that looked real good. Some nice beers, nothing of the suck, anyway. Not overjoyed that they only had 4 of their beers up, but such is OBF weekend, and their website shows 7 house beers at current, just my luck. Still, it's a good chill house. Cool beans.
