20 oz. on tap in a mason at the Great Lost Bear.

Appearance: Clear ruby with a one-finger eggshell head that sticks around.

Aroma: Some malt, a bit of herbal hops. Light nose.

Taste: A little lemon, some herbaceous character, a bit of grass. Nice malt backbone. Hoppy but not a bomb.

Mouthfeel: A sipper, but easy on the palate.

Overall: Nice IPA. Good mix of hops and malt.

Look: pours a beautiful copper, very clear for an unfiltered beer.

Smell: caramel malts mostly.

Taste: great malt backbone, loads of caramel malt, some nice citrus hops come into play in the middle, finished with a nice crisp bite and a touch of bitterness.

Feel: great carbonation, medium bodied.

Overall: I am a big fan of red IPA's, and this one did not disappoint. My only disappointment is that I only bought one can instead of one case.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a hazy red color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that glistened and slid off at a good pace. Light messy lace. The aroma had some citrusy hops up front fairly bold with a forthcoming nutty/caramel malt quality sliding in underneath. The flavor had a good blend of the hops to the malts, somewhat bittersweet. This carried into the aftertaste and followed through on the finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt fine. Mild smoothness with a little hop abrasion along my tongue. Overall, nice red IPA well worthy of having again.

I was a big fan of red ales for awhile now but this ipa red ale really surprised me. I feel like the boothbay brewery is over underrated. This beer is just missing a little something to make It in the same category as a bissel brothers or foundation. One of Maine's top red ipas for sure.

32oz. can: This one pours a fairly clear amber color. There was about an inch of a frothy light tan head on it. Decent enough aroma. Grainy and pine notes. The taste is OK. A milder hop presence. Pine and grapefruit flavors. Medium malt body behind it. A decent enough beer, but somewhat generic in this category.

I'm not normally a fan of red IPA's but this one poured at the brewery was better than average. So much better I brought home a crowler to enjoy at home. It pour a dark reddish orange color . the was a nice hop nose to this beer. The taste was smooth and pleasant. A much enjoyed red IPA.

On tap. Festival pour. Pours a darker Amber color. Aroma is of caramel malt and some piney and slightly citrusy hops. Not as deep in malt as some other hoppy red ales? Looks and smells more like a maltier West Coast IPA. Flavor possesses the bitterness of the hops but the malt seems to be more expressive overall. Caramel and some bread crust. Grassy hops and piney hops with some citrus. Has some body. Medium bitterness. A beer I have had seemingly hundreds of times before.
