A 500ml bottle with a BB of March 2012. Described as a traditional ruby beer - brewed in commemoration of the Yorkshire regiment. The label features the lion of England and the Yorkshire rose.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A deep ruby-red with faint haze and good carbonation. Forms a small head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes. The bottle contains sediment that indicates conditioning with live yeast. Aroma of subtle roasted malt with a sweet, nutty character. Hints of caramel, vanilla, yeast and stewed hops.

Tastes of roasted malt with a nutty quality and a bitter finish. Notes of roasted grain, caramel, wholemeal bread, earthy yeast and stewed hops. A dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and full-bodied. Quite astringent - dries the palate. Aftertaste of bitter roasted malt.

Tasty - a nice ruby ale and a fitting tribute to the Yorkshire regiment. The malt and bitterness are well balanced. A quality Yorkshire ale - well worth sampling.
