12oz bottle poured into a snifter.

(A)- Pours a deep auburn color. Some white froth and lacing.

(S)- A slightly nutty sweetness with subtle bits of honey.

(T)- Quite nutty with a chalky dry fig-like sweetness.

(M)- A mellow carbonation level. It has a nice underlying sweetness to it, though it does seem to be a bit high for a brown ale. At the same time it feels even a bit thin too

(O)- Very nutty and fig-like. Almost like a brown ale was blended with a very very mild barleywine.

Drunk from a regular pub glass at a local bar (from the tap).

Simple taste, not a whole lot of substantive flavors. Likewise, the smell was negligible. With that said, it was very light for a brown ale. I could definitely see myself drink this on a warm spring day rather than some semi-decent lager.

Disclaimer: I was battling a cold at the time of drinking the Lost Trout. Perhaps I will try it again sometime in the future, and come away with a better impression.

No freshness dating

A= Pours a deep brown color with a little skin of a head on top that holds little retention and lacing on the glass.

S= The smell is a little roast with a bit sweetness to back it up. No hop character to it and a little chocolateyness in it as well.

T= The taste is light sweetness with a light roast. Overall a very light character to it making it somewhat unimpressive.

M= A little high on carbonation but the weight is nice.

O= I dunno if this is what I would consider a great brown ale but then again there aren't many brown ales that are. This is an average beer for the average drinker. Nothing to check into twice if you wanna be blown away but nothing to write off if your looking for some beers.
