Formerly "Outcast".

If it’s a crime to pursue perfection, then lock us up! Just be sure to send us away with this brash yet balanced IPA featuring the Galaxy hop from Australia, a country famously populated by England’s cast out convicts. Backed by a steady malt character, this bronzy ale’s citrusy hop aromas and flavors reminiscent of pineapple and passion fruit bring the best of the Southern Hemisphere to wherever your voyage finds you.

12oz can purchased at Huckleberry's, in Spokane, WA, for $2.19. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was canned on July 12th, 2023.

Poured into a Shaker pint glass, this was a dull hazed copper, with a good sized off-white head. Lots of lace.

Juicy hop nose, reminiscent of Galaxy hops, but it's surprisingly low in the mix.

Sweet, fruity and bitter, in that order. The sweetness and fruitiness is reminiscent of tropical fruits, and the bitterness is fairly herbal, almost medicinal.

Medium bodied, slightly oily mouth feel.

Yet again, I find a Crux beer where the description sounds much more appealing then the actual experience of drinking turns out to be. It's not sufficiently flawed to my taste buds to where I'm going to need to pour it out, but it's not doing much for me, and I won't be having it again. What is it about Crux? I seem to always have these sort of experiences with their beers, but I know other people that love them.

Light hazy amber, thick head. Nose is floral with citrus and some PNW forest background. Taste gets you a pleasant, slightly dank, hoppy bitterness with a long finish. Body is very good, substantial malt base and good carbonation. Super fine finish. It took us a while to find some fresh cans and we're glad to have waited.

Can from Brewer's haven. Amber with beige head, nice sharp, biting hops in the aroma and taste. IPAs are a dime a dozen in the NW, but this one is a head of the pack.

Look: Opaque and slightly cloudy dark orange with an excitable head that forms to a pillow and slowly recedes, leaving good lacing behind
Aroma: Pineapple, sugar-dusted strawberries, sweet bready malt, sweet oranges, wafts of blueberries, and passionfruit
Taste: Pineapple juice and berries kick it off along with some bready malt notes and soon followed by tropical fruit notes and some citrus. Pineapple regains its dominance and leads through to the finish with a nice bite
Mouthfeel: Full, medium-high carbonation, and slightly dry on the finish
Overall: I dig it. A tasty and well-made IPA the showcases Galaxy hops quite well. Lots of pineapple and tropical fruit along with some citrus and berries and all in a nice, balanced package. An easy no-brainer and tasty IPA when choices become overwhelming

12oz caned in late December poured into a pint glass.

A: Chill hazed golden straw with white head and lacing.

S: Citrus hop character and malt; lemony, grassy...sweet but balanced.

T: Same as the nose; malt and hops...passion fruit and citrusy lemon...low to medium bitterness, underlying malt sweetness.

MF: Easy to drink light body bordering on medium.

O: A good NW IPA that's balanced in a good way, the hops are there along with an underlying malt character.

12oz single can purchased at Total Wine in Lynnwood, Washington.
Canned on 06/24/19. Poured in to a pint glass.

Look- Slightly hazy, golden amber color. Nice fluffy white head with great retention. Lots of sticky lacing. Plenty of carbonation is evident in the glass as it sits.

Smell- Pineapple, citrus (orange, grapefruit and lemon pith), melon, light peach, caramel and bready malts, grassy hops and a little pine.

Taste- Much of the same as the smell but the fruit is a little muted, while the piney/grassy hop taste is more pronounced.

Feel- Light to medium bodied. nice carbonation on the tongue. Semi-dry with light bitterness. Pretty well balanced. Couldn't taste the 7.6% ABV, very smooth.

O- My first time trying this beer. Pretty solid IPA, a little pricey though in my opinion.

Golden filtered with a few little bubbles, and 3 fingers of yellowish head.

Smells really fruity, like white grapes, cantaloupe, jackfruit and pineapple.

The taste follows the nose, defining each flavour even clearer.

Light body with little carbonation.

Drinking in Redding, Jan 19th, 2019. Decent, fruity, IPA.

2018 bottling (06.29). 500mL bottle, served in a can glass. Beer is golden and slightly hazy, and forms an enormous thick white foam. Disappointing aroma though, very neutral. Flavor is strong with some very astringent hops. Sure, it's flavorful and citrusy and juicy, but it's also got all the pith and sourness of an under-ripe grapefruit. I would definitely not say this is easy to drink, in fact, drinkability suffers. I can't believe this is "only" 60 IBU. I hate to knock this beer for being a big IPA with overly dominant hop flavors, but this is just disappointing for me.
