Notes:
We do so love a good Berliner… and with that in mind, we bring you Checkpoint Charlie Berliner Weisse: our traditional interpretation of a German classic.
Aptly named for the famous crossing at the Berlin Wall, you’ll find Checkpoint Charlie to hold all the great characteristics of the Berliner Weisse’s made in Berlin. That means it’s very light in body, wonderfully tart in the finish, and refreshingly sessionable at 3.0% ABV.

Pours a very pale straw color that is slightly cloudy. A modest head, quickly dissipates entirely.
The aroma is initially funky, followed by a tart lemony smell. Amidst the tartness, there are light aromas of bread, hay and straw.
The taste is very tart bordering on acidic. Strong flavors of zesty lemon pith are intense, yet, subtle notes of bread, crackers, and wheat. A peppery spice in the middle palate gives it a nice balance.
Light and crisp with a sour and bone dry finish.
A no nonsense take no prisoners Berliner Weisse in its pure form and unsweetened.

16oz can, sample from the brewery.
Dull pale yellow straw hue with just a touch of haze, minimal lacing does stay around for a while. Smells and tastes very tart with on a hint of funk. Lemony sour, water crackers, and yeast. Get more drinkable after a few sips as my palate acclimates to the tartness. A real treat to sip.

Pours a hazy golden color with little head and moderate carbonation. Nose is earthy and lightly citrus but the taste is super sour, with tons of lemon, citrus, and light funk.
Overall maybe the most sour Berliner I've had and I really enjoy the taste. Worth checking out.

Can. Poured hazy with a pink undertone. Aroma was flirting it's clear sourness. The flavor was too sour and tart. Like plunging into an unripened pink grapefruit. Jesus, the potency at 3% is stunning. It is too tart for me. Flavor to ABV ratio is off the charts but it was too much for me. A few sips and I am good.

The aroma offers eggy and slighty funky flavors, along with wheat.
The flavor follows with medium minus lemon tart, a hint of funk, along with a clean finish, a wheaty malt base.
A well done Berliner.

Overall: if you go for a run or ride and are in need of a light brew to quench your buds, this is a great pick. What a complex but fun beer.
