Our version of a London Style Brown Ale. In the south of England, they prefer their brown ale maltier and lower in alcohol. Here in Newburgh, we tend to agree. Verging on black, this beer pours with a light tan head and beautiful ruby highlights in the glass. The flavor is dominated by malty sweetness and gentle hints of chocolate and toffee. A nice and sessionable 4.2% alcohol content and medium to light body begs for an evening by the fire at your local pub.

dark brown in color, cream colored head. nice bready and caramel malt flavor in the aroma and taste, but the finish is dry which makes this very easy to drink. medium bodied.

On tap it was clear and brown with a low head of white foam. Little cling or retention and low carbonation.
Faint aromas of chocolate and brown sugar but little else.
Flavor is solid American Brown ale rather than English as the hop rate is high for style but in a good way.
Body is on the light side and it goes down easy.
Hops flare on the back end and finish leaving a slightly harsh and over bitter aftertaste.
Not a bad beer at all but lacks malt character and complexity.

Newburgh brown ale on draft with dinner in December, 2023. The body is dark brown, with a light tan head. This beer was heavy on the burnt malt, and a little lacking in body. The hoppy bitterness is fine. To me, it reminds me of a black lager. Its good, but not exactly what I would expect in a brown ale.

16oz can.
L: Light brown colour with tan edging. Disappointing small head disappears immediately and leaves no lacing.
S: Solid mocha aroma.
T: Coffee and hershey’s chocolate. Light bitterness.
F: Kind of thin (not unusual for a brown ale) but also fizzy (very unusual).
O: A highly sessionable brown ale. Nicely chocolatey (not really typical of an English brown ale, which usually has a tad more hazelnut) but ultimately too watery.

An easy pour produced a finger of long-lived soapy khaki foam, no lacing. Dark moose brown body with red highlights, dark ruby red in front of flame.

Mild smell of dark bread and dough, very faint floral hops. Coffee and chocolate with some roasted character.

Semi sweet with mild bitterness, bold yet malty smooth. Items from the smell are amplified with chocolate and roasted malt leading the way. Toasted grain arrives as the long finish approaches, drying to semi-dry with bitterness rising to above average. The after taste is roasted malt and grain bitterness lingering on.

Medium light bodied, carbonation is below average yet easily revived to the end. Soft and smooth as the label states, alcohol is an afterthought. Very true to style and a pleasure to drink. The red highlights were the highlight for me, outstanding look. Born on 2/15/23.

Brewer's notes; Dark in color but light in drinking / Notes of chocolate, coffee, & toffee; Traditional Southern-English style

Poured from tallboy into pint glass. Neat looking can! No points for can aesthetic, but still nice.
Pours dark, dark brown with off-white 1-finger head, dense lacing and lingering ring. Smells like toast and caramel. Tastes less so. Tastes like coffee. Sweet finish, like that same coffee but with too much sugar. Thinner, lighter, and more carbonated than I'd prefer it to be. It's alright.

Cloudy dark brown appearance

Medium light carbonation with about a medium body.
Aroma is excellent, toasted bread crust, malt, roasted malt, some caramel and coffee.
Taste isn't as strong as aroma but otherwise it stays true to the aroma.
This was a really nice brown ale, enjoyable and would look for again.

16oz can from Half Time. Clear, dark brown pour, small foamy head subsides. Aroma is a Deep, roasty malts, a bit more roasty than the norm, eliciting coffee notes. Taste is roasty malts, coffee. Minor bitterness.

poured into a shaker pint

L: 3.75 Very dark. More black than brown with a ruby tinge of light coming through. Thin tan head. Moderate carbonation.
S: 3.75. Earthy and nutty. Light cacao. Light hops.
T: 4.25. Exceptional. Coffee. Caramel. Tobacco. Bit of dark fruit. Aftertaste is very pleasant.
F: 3.75. Thin mouthfeel.
O: 4. Recommended. It's nice to find and try a Brown ale in a market saturated by pale ales, mostly the hazy kind.

Warming and relatively sweet, very rich and rewarding - soft and brown bready with some molasses-like impressions and a mild toasty edge... Despite being classed as an English brown, it struck me as more American-like, probably because of the sweetness?
