GigaBoss DIPA is our take on one of the most popular styles in American craft beer: Double IPA. Like many breweries, our Double IPA is loaded with American hops, but we just couldn’t help ourselves, so we went ahead and added some English hops too.
GigaBoss is unfiltered, meaning the rawness from the hops really shine through. And while the hops are certainly present on the nose & palette, the bitterness at the finish is surprisingly smooth & balanced.
At 9.5% ABV, this is certainly not sessionable. But we find it to be incredibly drinkable… and we hope you’ll agree.

16 oz can from Halftime. Pale golden pour, spotty head. Light hoppy aroma, grassy. Taste is more subdued, mellow hoppy notes. Malty, mild sweetness. Well rounded.

Canned on 7/26/2023 so 11 days' old. Poured into a shaker glass. It pours a cloudy, bright, golden-orange color with a creamy, half finger cap of milk-white foam and lacing. A big, fragrant nose featuring lemon, lime, red berry, cantaloupe, and sweet floral hops. Despite the sweetness in the smell it drinks like a West Coast IPA with lots of tart lemon and grapefruit rind, along with pine sap. As it warms a bit there are some sweeter notes of berry, melon, and perhaps a hint of pineapple. The bitterness is pronounced but clean throughout. The hop bill isn't identified other than American and some English hops. I'm guessing Citra and Centennial, among others, are included. Its mouth feel is moderately creamy with pleasant carbonation, and it drinks quite easily for 9% ABV Overall, GigaBoss is a solid East Coast-brewed, West Coast style DIPA with lots of flavor, strong bitterness, and a great mouth feel. I think it's the best of Newburgh's "Boss" IPA series.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a lightly hazy, medium golden amber with a somewhat fizzy, one finger white head that nevertheless maintained a thick, persistent cap with nice lacing. Aroma of lightly caramel malt, tropical fruit and lightly dank hops, pineapple, mixed tropical and light stone fruit and a hint of citrus. Flavor is pale malt, a mixture of citrus, piney, dank and tropical fruit hops, grapefruit, lemon, yuzu, pine, mixed, but vague tropical and stone fruit; finishes with dankness, citrus rind and some pine resin. Soild finishing bitterness. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. A quite busy big IPA with flavors that are all over the place. It's fun to taste hops that just about cover the flavor spectrum, but it's a little muddled. The herbal elements of the hops are somewhat subdued, but clear enough to get citrus, tropical fruit, pine and some grassy dankness. I'm always pleased to find an IPA with solid, lingering bitterness and this delivers in that department too. I liked this, but wanted a little more focus on the hop flavors. Different enough I'd like to try their Megaboss and other IPAs.

Poured into a shaker pint.
L: 3.75. Translucent. Brighter than typical for a WC style DIPA. Moderate carbonation. Lingering head.
S: 3.75. Hop forward. West Coast style hops. A bit older than 2 months and it smells like there might be a little degradation.
T: 3.75. Not bad, but not outstanding. Has all the hallmarks. Hops seem a little spent despite it being canned a little over 2 months ago. Slightly paperish. Nice malty base. I guess its encroaching on TIPA territory so that should be expected.
F: 3.5 medium mouthfeel. No alcohol burn.
O: 3.75. I was hoping for more but it's not at all bad. More of a fan of Megaboss.

Turning up the dial on DIPA, Newburgh Brewing's Imperial IPA is crammed pack with hop flavor, aroma and bitterness. At the end of the day, this beer is boss!
GigaBoss pours a tarnish gold with hints of chrome while topping off with a creamy white cap. As the aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and fine herb drift about, the first sip leans in with a smooth sweetness of honey, light caramel and biscotti.
But the star of the show is the hops and their premiere tropical fruit flavors of pineapple, passionfruit and papaya. Not to be outdone, a citrusy component of lime and grapefruit add a sharp zing of flavor ahead of a smooth bitterness of citrus peel, spruce, grasses and botanical herbs. The juiciness of cantaloup links up with residual malt sweetness to keep the fruit impressions vivid and forerunning.
Full bodied and finishing bittersweet, the DIPA lingers with a long but smooth bitterness that splits the difference between the juiciness of hazy IPA but the bitter dryness of traditional American IPA. But with a bigger and bolder flavor, this beer may be the boss of bosses.

Honey in color
Nose is slightly sweet with little to no head. Lacing was there, just not overly apparent. Taste was bitter that gives way to a slight pineapple taste. Taste and bitterness fades to a hint of what was. ABV was not evident at all! Good beer.

From the can it pours a slightly hazy dark yellow color. A thumb length frothy head retains well.
Juicy and sweet aromas of tropical fruit reach the nose, redolent of a tropical beach drink. Notes of mango, papaya, pineapple and banana are contrasted with a touch of pine and bright citrus.
Complex and full bodied with lots of malt sweetness, alcohol spice and rife with hops flavors. Creamy, sticky and sweet malts evoke flavors of biscuit, honey and caramel, and contribute to the smooth mouthfeel. A developing resiny bitterness evokes woodsy and earthy flavors as well as spicy notes of pine and grass. Big juicy flavors of mango, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit and grapefruit interact with alcohol spices. The carbonation is moderate. The finish is both fruity and resiny with a spicy warmth and lingering bitterness.
This was a strong and complex DIPA that grew on me considering its drink ability relative to its high ABV.

Look: Dark orange, hazy with foamy white head.
Smell: I can only smell hops, no malt, somewhat citrusy.
Taste: Orange peel, sugary sweet, some malt in the background. Not too bitter.
Feel: I would prefer more carbonation, but not bad.
Overall: Pretty easy to drink given the high ABV.
