Solid beer from a small brewery In a great neighborhood on the near east side of Madison. Pours a deep brown color, good notes of coffee and a bit of cocoa smooth mouthfeel. Enjoyable local beers.

This beer pours a nice dark brown color. The head is a nice tan color, frothy, and one finger. Good head retention, and nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is somewhat weak. I do get a hint of coffee, and maybe some milk/lactose.
The taste is mellow. There's a hint of coffee on the backside. Some biterness from it. Some milk/lactose flavor.
Somewhat on the watery side. Just not as thick as I would have expected from the ABV.
Not bad overall, but I've had beers that are way better examples of this style.

look: 4 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2.75 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 2.5
Look: Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a thick light tan head.
Smell: Coffee really dominates the aroma, with possibly some malt and chocolate coming out.
Taste: Coffee, earthiness, some dark chocolate, and a tinny taste.
Feel: Bitter, almost acrid, and medium bodied.
Overall: I like coffee stouts, but I'm struggling a bit with this one. Bitter, and little depth. The off flavor bothers me too

22oz bottle, no date. Pours black with a medium sized brown head. Smells and tastes of very tart dark fruit and weak roasted malt; no coffee, oats, or lactose. Above average body and below average carbonation. Must be a bad bottle. It seems promising though, so hopefully I can revisit this someday and update my review.

650ml bottle served in a snifter glass.
Pours a dark cola coloured body, half finger white head, minimal retention, not much lacing. Smells of burnt dark coffee, a bit of chocolate, mild ethanol, teriyaki. Flavour is similarly teriyaki, a bit smoky, burnt coffee beans, dark chocolate, not a whole lot else. As it warms, a bit of alcohol burn finds its way in as well. Mouthfeel is medium-thicker bodied, hefty but ultimately a bit undercarbonated and a bit slicker than I'd like. Overall, it's got a bit of a meaty teriyaki smokiness to it that just isn't my thing. Good mouthfeel, low carbonation.
