Had on tap. The appearance got me excited. Nice jet black with brown foam. Smell however had a rusty aroma that was not great. Taste is much more balanced with coffee drowning out some of the metal aftertaste, but not completely. Overall ok, but could be very good without that metal taste in there

Solid beer from a small brewery In a great neighborhood on the near east side of Madison. Pours a deep brown color, good notes of coffee and a bit of cocoa smooth mouthfeel. Enjoyable local beers.

This beer pours a nice dark brown color. The head is a nice tan color, frothy, and one finger. Good head retention, and nice lacing on the glass.
The nose is somewhat weak. I do get a hint of coffee, and maybe some milk/lactose.
The taste is mellow. There's a hint of coffee on the backside. Some biterness from it. Some milk/lactose flavor.
Somewhat on the watery side. Just not as thick as I would have expected from the ABV.
Not bad overall, but I've had beers that are way better examples of this style.

Look: Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a thick light tan head.
Smell: Coffee really dominates the aroma, with possibly some malt and chocolate coming out.
Taste: Coffee, earthiness, some dark chocolate, and a tinny taste.
Feel: Bitter, almost acrid, and medium bodied.
Overall: I like coffee stouts, but I'm struggling a bit with this one. Bitter, and little depth. The off flavor bothers me too
