I went on One Barrel's website three years ago after having their flagship APA (I just deleted my review, good to clean house.) While they then claimed to be Madison's first nano-brewery (a bit surprising for one of the Midwest's highest concentration of foodies... and students), I see three years later that they have opened a taproom in Door County and half-opened their taproom and events room in Madison (still struggling with construction and Covid!) Such is the fate of the little guys. But I do like how their taproom helps the early industrial area of Madison regenerate.
As for Pete's Wheat, I'd say it is a hefe. But, I go with BA's witbier classification because I'm easy-going. As a wit, Pete's got average Looks and Smells (no distinct spicing.) But Tastes are pleasant and integrated and paired well with two different cheeses; so some wit-like features here. In my mouth, soft like wheat should be.
I hope to have more from One Barrel in my ventures into Wisconsin.
