12oz btl into pint glass. Less than average head disappears quickly with no lacing. Light golden color, very light. Faint light grain, floral scent. Water thin taste with nothing standing out. Muddled flavor spectrum. Thin feel, easy to drink.
Not real familiar with this style. I had an ice cold tap of Commuter and it tasted much better. No surprise. Don’t go out of your way for this one.

Had on tap. A forgettable beer in the forgettable style. Nothing bad about it, just not great either. Missing that "it" factor to make it a great kolsch. Has a nice hazy wheat character to it but ends thin on feel

I decided to give this one a shot, given that it's brewed down the road. Unfortunately, it just didn't do anything for me. A weak flavor profile of moderately roasted hops does nothing to prevent the bitterness of carbonation from overtaking any of the other flavors. It's the same general taste of PBR, but, I was expecting more from this one.

Unlike many folks in the era of big and hoppy, I like Kolsch style ales and will not miss an opportunity to try a new one. This one is really nice. The yeast is flavorful, the malt is pleasant, The beer has a slight haziness and maybe a slight thicknesss to the mouthfeel. I'll speculate 10% wheat malt, but what do I know? Haziness could be just yeast. This goes down super easy and makes me wish I bought 5 Commuters and 1 IPA in my mix-6 instead of the other way around.

12oz bottle of the first bottling. Green label, served in a snifter glass.

Pours a slightly hazy copper-yellow body, one finger white head that is short-lived, some lacing. Smells like banana bread, on the sweeter side, bubble gum, semi-tropical fruity. It's not bad, but it's very different than the classic Kolsches I've had. Flavour is sweet isoamyl aka fair amount of banana, some bubble gum, sweet pale malt sweetness that follows through to the end, with a bit more bubble gum accentuated on the backend. It's not terrible, but it just doesn't work all that well and just does not seem very well executed. I know what a good Kolsch should taste like and this is not it. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a bit too hefty for the style, sweet with some bubblegum on the backend. Just doesn't work for me, partly because it's different. But even that set aside, it seems a bit muddled like an ale attempting to be a lager but ends up being a bready weizen.

Look: Straw yellow with a bit of cloudiness. Effervescent white head.

Smell: Pilsner malt, dusty, grassy, with a bit of fresh apple in the background.

Taste: Exactly as expected from the smell. Toss in a nice, crisp, continental malt background with a good bitterness. This is a nice, crisp summer beer. Malty, lager-esque, and well balanced. Just enough noble-ish hops to make this one interesting.
