Another beer from my parents.
This was poured into a tulip.
The had a semi-bright amber color with a small white semi-foamy head dissolving fair quick. No lace.
The aroma had some semi-sweet citrusy hops playing with a crisp piney happiness and a stiff caramel malt.
The flavor leaned towards a certain sweetness. Malt seems to show enough presence to stifle much or any hoppiness. Malty aftertaste with little piney hoppiness.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt fine. Malty to brisk hoppy finish.
Overall, so many DIPA's on the market these days but so little are substantial enough to burst into the top tier.

Ripe and radiant, the imperial IPA of Otto's Pub employs the help of Columbus and Simcoe hops for a high level of complexity, boldness and charm to have hop heads coming from near and far.
Nearly bright and gleaning in a slight golden haze, Double D IPA greets the rim with a stiff cream cap. Perfumy aromas of tropical fruit, citrus and stone fruit draw in the nose while a sweet taste of honey, light caramel and a hint of marmalade soothes the sweet tooth early in the session.
As the sweetness recedes, the hops take the stage with a branch ripe flavor of orange and apricot while hints of pink grapefruit, pineapple and mango keep the succulent hoppiness shining. As the ale turns toward bitterness, it does so with a light balance of honey remaining which buffers the brunt of sappy pine cone, fresh chives and an overall pleasant grassy character deep in taste.
Medium bodied but trending dry, the imperial IPA carries a bright and hoppy taste into a crisp, refreshing and thirst quenching finish. A vodka type of warmth adds a spice to the balance while emphasizing dryness. Hints of citrus peels remain as a botanical aftertaste extends well beyond the sweetness.

Pours amber and clear. So clear it is obvious it is filtered. Nose and taste is hoppy as it should be. Head is off white. I like how the bitterness has a bite then fades.

12oz bottle into a tall glass. NO freshness dating.
Pale amber color with good persistent white head. Leaves good lacing initially.
no aroma. nothing good, but nothing bad either.
Flavors are mild, faint hops, slightly peppery. Solid malt background.
Mouth closer to full than medium. finish is faintly bitter.
Overall, a little stronger tasting than their Slab Cabin, a tad more bitter. Decent enough ipa.

Otto's Pub and Brewery "Double D India Pale Ale"
22 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without freshness dating
$3.30 @ Pletcher's Beer Distributor, State College, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: This beer has been through a few different incarnations. It's currently listed at 9.6% ABV here on BA but just 9.2% at the pub. "A big Imperial IPA packed with Columbus and Simcoe hops". Nice color, kind of a golden-orange and clear. The finger-plus thick head of creamy off white seems to he holding quite well, and there's lacing where it's already dropped. The aroma is pungent, a touch earthy/spicy, and gently fruity with some apricot and citrus. It's not bold and you have to look for it but it's there. The hops are much clearer in the flavor though: earthy, spicy, herbal, with apricot, passionfruit, and some citrus. The malt is sweetish, lightly toasty, and softly grainy and the bitterness is stiff, cutting straight through it and bringing it to a dry finish without leaving too much bitterness lingering. Perhaps I'm finding some red berry in there as well? Ahh, and looking back the lacing is pretty nice. Medium to medium-light in body and delicately crisp and then smooth across the palate. Overall I'd say it's very nicely done. I could use a little more hops in the nose but the flavor is really well-done, nicely balanced and rounded, and remarkably drinkable. The alcohol has a presence, but no more than it should have, and it never specifically sticks out anywhere.
