On tap. Poured a murky, dark brown color with a small tan head of foam. It smelled of cherry, dried fruit and yeastiness. Strong cherry flavor with a sweet maltiness.

It decants hazy copper amber under a rocky and sticky cream to light tan foam cap with a slight cherry tint to it. Rapidly rising bubbles continually refresh the foam cap giving it persistence. A slight hint of cherry, come malts and kettle sugar aromas evoke tart cherry jam on white toast. On the palate, very creamy rich malts give way to a crisp, refreshing cherry tartness and the mingling of the cherry and weizen yeast banana and clove flavors evoke a fresh cherry tart. the cherry is more prominent than the yeast flavors. The tartness of the cherry balances the malty sweetness for a very pleasant drink. Nothing is cloying or overstated. The medium full to full body hides the alcohol well. the carbonation is medium low which makes the flavors easier to savor. Hop flavors and bitterness are medium low to low but show up in the lingering cherry finish to provide a mile bitter accent. Cherry Double Dunkel is a very interesting, complex and enjoyable beer.

Wax dipped 750ml bottle. Pours a murky brown color with a massive head that was slow to settle to a thick cap. Moderate amount of lacing is left down the glass.

Not getting much aroma. A little cherry and some spice sort of like ginger or cinnamon. Not getting any wheat or much yeast aroma.

Has little weizen flavor. Mostly cherry and spice. Do not get any yeast esters. Flavor is pleasant enough but it is lacking. A little alcohol warmth and flavor in the finish. Finishes on the sweet side.

Full body and nice carbonation. Pleasant texture. Feels lively without being harsh.

Not completely successful. The aroma and flavor just are not there. The cherry alone is not covering up the weizen flavors. I bet this beer will find fans who like cherry.

Poured from 750ml bottle into glass. No dating on bottle or label, but hang tag identifies this as "2016 Cherry Double Dunkel". Label identifies ABV as 9% ABV.
Murky, pale amber colored body, with reddish accents. Slight, off white fizzy head quickly dissipates. No lacing.
Cherry and wheat aroma.
Cherry flavor dominates, kind of natural and kind of medicinal, but overall it is okay. Just a passing glance of tartness, with a little more of cherry sweetness (cherry expresses more as a berry fruit rather than a sweetened preserve).
Mouth feel is medium but really minimal carbonation (flat, which detracts from drinking experience),
Age may have degraded beer, but this is a flat carbonation and relatively one note taste experience. Weizenbock notes are lacking.
