Dark chocolate brown colored with a crystally light brown head of foam that is left clinging to the glass.

Nice variety of scents. Malty, hoppy, chocolate, cream, star anise.

Very nice flavor going on. Bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts, piney, grapefruit bitterness. The grapefruit really lingers after the finish. Has to be the hoppiest american stout I've had. Has a hint of underlying black licorice in there also.

Feels quite a bit thinner than the 6.3%. The carbonation is soft, but feels a thin also with that weak body.

This is a really hoppy stout that drinks very easily. This could easily fall in the black ipa category. Could be a dangerous one at over six percent because it does not feel and taste like one. The hops are actually quite incredible in this. The only thing lacking here is the body, otherwise a wonderful brewski.

I think this is an outstanding stout...maybe the best regular stout in the state....I like a sweeter stout and this has that....milk chocolate, and coffee roast but more like coffee with a lot of creamer in it....touches of caramel as well....

Love this beer....creamy texture.....ABV is much steeper than I would have imagined at 6.3%...it certainly doesn't drink like a 4.5% Guinness (or taste anything like that which is a good thing in my opinion), but I would have guessed more of a 5 or 5.5 ABV....

Aroma has more coffee notes while the taste adds the creamer and caramel to the mix....both have a sweeter chocolate impression..

Well done Badger Hill...it takes a lot to get me excited and tell people to try a beer these days but this is one of them.

Sweet aroma of chocolate, caramel, cream and coffee. Taste is similar but with some spicy, floral and slightly citrusy hops to balance. Extremely silky and smooth with a mostly dry finish. Carbonation is kept in check, which works for this beer. Drinks like a 4% Stout but is flavorful like a 7% Stout. Great stuff.

Roasty nose with chocolate and coffee.
Black, brilliant, tan head, very lively, took half an hour to settle down.
Creamy, chocolate, coffee-espresso, lingering coffee aftertaste, lingering roast flavor.
On tap it had medium full body with medium low carbonation. In the bottle the carbonation was high.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours jet black. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A roasty and toasty dark malt driven aroma with a scent of chocolate, coffee, and toast. Dark roasted malt with a scent of chocolate, coffee, toast, biscuit, smoke, oats, caramel, toffee, and nuts with yeast. Sweet hints of vanilla and brown sugar. Good hints of earthy hops. A pretty good roasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and toasty dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, and toast. Dark roasted malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, toast, smoke, biscuit, grains, oats, caramel, toffee, and nuts along with some yeast. Some notes of vanilla and brown sugar sweetness. Slight undertones of anise. Some earthy hop bitterness as well. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, silky, and very smooth.

Overall: A very good take on an American style Stout. Big roast flavors with a moderate smooth body.

From a 12 ounce can into a nonic ten ounce glass.

Starts off excellently with a beautiful appearance. Black body with some amber hues. Got all the froth and lace I want from a stout.

Pulling aromas of black licorice, raisin and roasted malt from the nose and some dark bread. I likey. Even a bit smokey and that's just fine.

Nose was honest with me. Tastes exactly how the nose told me it should. Hints of smoke, raisin, dark licorice and rye bread. Dark chocolate begins to emerge as I drink away at this.

Drinks pretty well too. Light in body and smooth, but with a gentle roast and touch of carbonation to offer some presence.

A nice easy drinker with some rich flavors. Good stuff.

Picked up a single at Princeton's Liquor. Poured black with a tall tan head. There's a pleasant bitter mix of cocoa and coffee grounds but the aroma is off. Instead of that tasty black grain mix, this beer smells like a dirty tap line. That's a damn shame, the underlying stout shows a lot of promise, but its going sour.

Black color with a massive head that had excellant retention. The head settles to a thick cap after a long time. Moderate amount of sticky lacing is left down the glass. Impressive looking stout.

Malty aroma of roast, mocha, and a hint of smoke. Some grassy and earthy hops as well. Seems to be some yeast aromas sneaking in. Slightly spicey.

The yeast that I thought I could smell, really show up in the flavor. Has an underlying Belgian quality to it. Could swear this had some spice like cardamon was added. Almost like they took a page from the Lift Bridge recipe book. Good malty flavor with notes of mocha and caramel. Moderate bitterness with some earthy and pine hop flavor. Not the cleanest overall flavor, but I like it.

Medium to full bodied. Well paired carbonation gives a nice silky texture.

Badger Hill's most impressive beer. Plenty of character with its quirks and all.

Poured from bottle into a pilsener glass. Approx. 60⁰ F. Pours a black color with a nice brown toward tan head. Moderate carbonation. Bubbly lacing. Head fades within 7-8 minutes. Smell is predominately roasted, perhaps coffee, which remains after the first taste. Smooth mouth feel, almost creamy. Hop bitterness comes through in the middle and remains in the aftertaste. I'm no expert on what stouts are "supposed" to taste like, but I like this beer a lot.

Based on the other reviews I've seen, mine may have been over carbonated or some how I shook it up a bit when walking from the fridge to the table.

Appearance: Dark brown to black beer resides under a large bubbled light-tan head. This beer poured lots of foam right away.

Smell: This smelled of roasty chocolate with some dark fruit hints. American hops aroma layered in there, which came out a lot more when it warmed up more.

Taste: Roasted malt-chocolate-dark fruit at first. Coffee came out then turned more to burnt coffee mingling with some roasted malt astringency, a little too much possibly for the style. The american hops is ever-presently layered in throughout the beer nicely.

Mouthfeel: This had a foamy, not creamy, effect in my mouth making it difficult to enjoy. Body seemed medium, but again hard to tell with the carbonation. I

Overall: Appearance and smell made my mouth water. Tasting initially was good, but with warming a burnt coffee taste came forward and started ruining what was off to a good start. I have a feeling I may have just gotten an over carbonated batch or bad travel conditions. I will need to try again to reevaluate.
