Pours looking kinda' thin and lighter than many.
Dark head and dark body with reds and browns in the light. Seems clear too.
Pleasant hop aroma with a darker, not sweet malt aroma with hints of heavy toast to roast. The mix of the hops and malt is interesting. Again, not sweet, but kinda' like molasses together and pleasant.
Firm malt flavor with ample dying on the finish. Hops are present, but not overwhelming and intermix nicely in the overall presentation. The hops also linger quite a long time with a laying on the tongue of a herbal quality. Bitterness is subdued and mostly to cut sweetness.
Body is kinda' thin for style (thin-moderate) and it's gassed up a little too much for my tastes too.
This beer grew on me. I like it more now that I'm down to my last bottle, compared to the first (in which I was disappointed). As noted, the blending of the flavors is pretty good. It drinks well and easily.

Snowdrift IPA pours a black color with a nice large lacing head. There is a mellow smokey aroma, with just hints of floral notes form the hops. The taste has a smokey burnt hop like flavor, with just a bitter hit on the palette, then chocolate flavors sneak in at the end. Just a bit watery, but easy to drink. Overall a very different beer. Has some black IPA flavors that finishes sweet and mellow.

A - Poured out a jet-black color with a one-finger, light brown head of foam. It left little to no lacing.
S - It smelled of pine and roasted malts.
T - Good roasted malt character with a piney bitterness. A touch of citrus, too.
M - It was a little thin for a black IPA. But it had a clean, dry finish.
O - This is an okay black ale. At $7 for a six pack it is a nice bargain.
