On tap at 2 Bros. Pours a murky burnt orange color with an inch of head. Tons of lacing. The aroma is sweet caramel malts, bread, and some spicy and herbal hops. The taste is the herbal and spicy hop bitterness upfront. Floral notes as well. Toasted bread with some lightly toasted malts, peach and caramel. There is a lot going on here but it balances out fairly well. Spicy bitter hops at the finish with a good deal of pine. Mouthfeel is a bit on the heavy side with a lot of carbonation. Slightly boozey tasting. Overall, a solid Imperial IPA I look forward to buying some cans of.

Pith, Rind, Juicy, Pine

This beer is a creamy delight: semi-chewy medium body with thick layers of citrus and pine on the palate. The alcohol is noticeable with a kiss of pineapple and ripe pears in tow. More than enough bitterness, too; thick citrus rind and pith flavors in the middle. Each sip is expressive, yet a mild harshness in the finish challenges the palate, which most hopheads will enjoy. Nothing faint here.

I was looking forward to this beer. All I can say is that making your beer less accessible does not automatically put it on the scale of Heady Topper. I love supporting local breweries; in fact, I would prefer to drink local. It amazes me that local purveyors already have this on an "invite only" e-mail distribution. Brewed with 3 different hops and balanced by a dry malt characteristic, I'm not feeling the balance at all on this one. It subdues the citrus-like hops that are trying to break through. It finishes peppery, just like their single IPA and I think that it takes from the overall experience. In a market watered down by the next great IPA, this one misses the mark due to its failure to marry the hop/malt profile. It's not a bad beer by any stretch, but being my favorite style, it misses the mark.

12 oz can, sticker on the four pack tells me this was "canned 112315" so yeah this is fresh

Pours clouded tangerine, lifts a rock solid and long long lasting khaki cap...leaves gobs of low sheeting and great looking fields of lacing...nice looking beer.

Nicely hopped up nose, fruity and also somesweet malty

Quality, tasty, smooth, easy drinking and fresh...citric hoppy goodness .....yummy brew in a can...nice to see more Ct. micros popping up and turning out quality brew

Had on tap last night at GW Carson's in Branford, served in a snifter glass. Comes out honey colored, clear, with a small white head that fades to a ring. Smell is definitely on the sweeter side, hops a bit subdued, a lot of fruit juice here with some grassiness. Flavor is about the same, big bready note, lots of fruit, long finish. Hops are there and are a bit juicy with some resin. Big body for the relatively lower ABV, overall a nice DIPA but nothing too crazy.

Always looking forward to a DIPA. Never know what I am going to get. This one poured a relatively light color, not the typical orange hue. I did not detect any real strong presence of grapefruit, resin and other normal aromas associated with hoppy IPAs

There was a good amount of malt in this one. Perhaps a bit too much. It create a beer that was big and smooth, not something I generally think of in an IPA and never in a DIPA.

Big round finish. Not overall exciting, but worth the try

Very cloudy in the glass, copper like orange in color.
The aroma is very bready, caramel like sweetness. I can smell the alcohol.
It tastes very interesting. It is very boozy with some hop bitterness. It tasted to me like a beer version of ginger ale for some reason.
Mild amount of carbonation.
Overall, there is a lot of hype surrounding this beer and to me it missed the mark of a good DIPA. Worth trying it.

Great appearance: dark gold brew, translucent (not exactly hazy, though; more thick), topped by a big fluffy white head with great retention and nice lacing.

Nice hop-forward aroma: citrus and tropical fruit about equally represented, with a notable pungent dank herbal note (reminiscent of Citra or perhaps Mosaic). Just a touch of malts coming through; grainy pale and perhaps a touch of caramel.

Flavor follows, with tons of sweet dankness, easily overwhelming the citrus peel and mango that lurk behind. Slightly buttery malts. Fruity, flowery, and herbal. No bite to the bitterness (although it is plenty bitter).

Easily drinkable and smooth; medium, slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Fairly wet finish, with a vegetal touch as the hop oils linger.

This is a decent fruity, dank DIPA. If that's your thing, you'll love it. I personally would prefer much more bite and abrasiveness to the bitterness; this is obviously more about late-hop additions.

Big fan of this brewery: the staff are really friendly and frequently have cask tastings. This is my first time finding the 4pack cans - labeled "canned 3/19" (just 8 days ago): Strong hop smell, nice mouthfeel, with a bitter hop finish. This is easily my favorite beer by Back East and well worth trying; looking forward to their summer IPA which is also sick!

Just got a fresh batch recently. Excellent as advertised. Great hints of peach. Smells nice in the can and glass. Stripes a glass like a good IPA should. This double is very good and getting better! A tad of a boozy after taste but overall AWESOME!
