On tap at Max's Wine Dive - Fairview (Houston, TX). Very dark brown with a modest head of tan foam. Roasted grains, burnt caramel, molasses form a solid malt body with some toasty, savory leaning notes balancing out the sweetness. Medium body and carbonation with a creamy feel. Very drinkable roasty brew - malt forward without any overt sweetness.

Tastes a lot like the typical homebrew from the eighties..."Let's see, I have some caramel malt and Munich malt..and here's some chocolate malt.." Nothing at all wrong with this beer, just not what I expected when I read "Munich Dunkel" 'cause it sure as hell ain't that. None of those toasted grain flavors are appropriate in a Munich Dunkel. Easy to drink though with a creamy texture and huge khaki head. Roasted grain dominates with no serious off-flavors. Call it a light Porter and it's a world-beater!

A creamy one finger head with poor retention. The head has withered downed to a light tan ring around the glass. The beer is dark brown and has some reddish hues. The beer is opaque.

N: Caramel, toasted malt, a slight burnt character, subtle molasses note, and bready.

T: Caramel, toasted/roasted malt, a slight burnt character, a honey like sweetness, bready, and yeasty.

M: medium carbonation, creamy, medium full body with a long finish.

O: Personally I am disappointed with this beer, the burnt character is not supposed to be in the beer. It is ok, not the best example of dunkel.

S- Toasted malts, chocolate bar, sweet cocoa.
T- Toasted grains, coffee, brown sugar. Fades a bit towards the end.
F- Medium, a bit light.
O- Very nice brew, lovely dark lager.
