Bottled on 3/21. Today is 5/5. What a nice beer! Pours a wonderfully clear amber, thick, thick head and sticky lacing. Bouquet of floral notes, some piney /woody background and light on the citrus. A very tasty offering, a polished finish with very solid malt profile which puts it ahead of the pack of hop bombs so common. pFriem has set a pretty high bar out here. If you come across these, grab 'em.

16oz bottle served in a big snifter. Bottled on 04-05-18.
Pours a clear golden with a slight brassy tinge, big fluffy head. Smell is somewhere in between west and east coast IPA. I think it leans to the east, with more tropical than pine characteristics.
Taste is also a mixture of the two genres -- lots of pine, lots of fluffy fruity flavors. This is a flavor bomb.
Mouthfeel is dry and fluffy. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this beer.

Another shout out to Phil for these delicious beverages! Down Under IPA is a damn fine looking beverage. It's exceptionally clear, which is nice to see in an IPA these days. Golden with an apricot orange hue. The foam hits two fingers easily. It eventually falls to a cap and leaves sheet lacing caked down the glass. Pretty impressive.
The nose is interesting and mouthwatering though slightly subdued. Berries play a big role, that's the interesting part. There's also sturdy dose of spicy herballness that I'm thoroughly enjoying. Soft, candied citrus plays their part with some tropicals thrown in for good measure. The malt profile is impressive. It's got some sugar cookie sweetness, white bread doughiness, and a drizzle of caramel. This beer has some nice complexities. If the nose popped a little more it would get a crazy good score.
This is a damn good beer. It's bright but with a complex malt profile that's not found very often these days in IPAs. There are some white wine notes and berries off the bat. Orange marmalade pops up in the middle while that spiciness noticeable in the smell falls nearly out of range until the swallow. The malt profile, again, is bread dough and a drizzle of caramel. It lays down an impressive base for the hop profile.
The body is weighty in a good way. It's a tick or two over moderate with a really soft feel. It's velvety and smooth but with a touch of carbonation bite on the backend. A touch of sweetness hits upfront but is washed away on the swallow where it dries up quick and is nicely bitter, just under moderate over time. I could drink a lot of this, it's very well made.
This is yet another superbly well crafted beer from the folk at pFriem. It's well rounded and soft around the edges. Segues from one thing to another flawlessly. The malt base is interesting and full of depth. I'm a big fan of this guy. Thanks again, Phil!

Down Under is beautiful. Almost perfect if it weren't for those little floaties. Bright gold with the biggest peaked egg white head I've ever seen that just plasters the glass and never gives up.
As advertised, berries are intoxicating in the aroma. There is a bit of a rubber or tree bark kind of scent going on that I can't quite put my finger on, underneath honeydew melon flesh and just a flick of fresh untoasted white bread.
This is delicious. And unique. Melon, berries, and kiwi blend wonderfully. A good malty biscuit holds strong in the middle before a slightly burnt rubber/pine tar finish, which to be perfectly honest, I'm more than ok with.
This feels almost exactly as an IPA should, in my opinion. Crisp, clean, good doses of fruit, lightly malt sweetness, then a blast of bitterness to carry on between sips. The bitterness is dialed back just a touch, however.
pFriem fanboy here. They seem to do no wrong. Another great offering from these fine folks from The Gorge. Cheers.
