pFriem Frambozen is made by adding fresh raspberries to our Lambic-inspired ale, resulting in a deep fuchsia, pink foam-topped nectar, with perfumy aromas of fresh fruit, flavors of fresh jam, and a tart, prickly finish. If that sounds intriguing, just wait until you taste it!

Bottle into nucleated Tulip
Look: Opaque dark reddish purple, pouring a half finger head which dissipated into light sheeting
Smell: Sweet fresh raspberry jam, hint citrus, undertones of funk and malt. medium strength
Taste: Moderate tart raspberry followed by a touch of oak and yeast funk which fades to a lightly malty finish
Feel: Moderate carbonation, light-medium body, crisp and dry
Overall: Very good raspberry lambic. Dry and funky

Ruby red grapefruit colored body; lively carbonation; no head. Raspberry and watermelon aroma. Sweet sourness in the taste; fermented berries; raspberry; tart; a bit of wheat-like graininess; a touch of oak. Medium body; tart, tangy, acidic; tart juiciness throughout.

Other than the lack of any lasting head, this is a well-made, tart and tasty raspberry sour. The barrel-aging is hard to pick up, but there are some rustic, hardwood-like notes buried deep beneath the sourness. 2020 vintage, bottle 07/29/20.

Crystal clear rose bubbly body, white bubble ring. Huge musty raspberry aromas with dry yet tart oak, flowers, with hints of lemon zest. Taste is more focused on the tart yet wildly musty raspberry, oak is the waltzing partner all the way through. Feel is effervescent, tart, somewhat acidic and funky but neither are defining long term. Not the most complex but it nails the notes it hits

2020 vintage bottled on 07/23/20.

After an epic battle getting the cork out of the 375ml bottle, pours a crimson gold color with very little head and not a lot of carbonation. A little haze as I let some of the lees into the tulip. I expected an aroma of raspberries but I do not get that. I get band-aids and other medicinal aromas. Thankfully the flavor is a little better. Still not much for raspberries but has a pleasant tartness. Finish is medicinal. Light body with a mellow carbonation. Maybe this beer is a little too young and needed a year or two of bottle conditioning. Or it's F'd up. But I do not see anything on the label saying it should age.

I had high hopes for this beer seeing the average ratings for beer from this brewery are high, but this was a disaster.

12.7oz/375mL corked & caged bottle purchased at Huckleberry's, in Spokane, Washington, for $11.49. 2018 vintage, barrel aged. According to the stamp on the rear label, this was bottled on August 28, 2018.

Poured into a tulip glass, this was a cloudy dark red. Moderate sized pink-white head initially that dropped quite quickly. That seems to me a standard thing with the style.

More funky and vinegary in the nose than I expected, but not in a way that was unpleasant. Plenty of sweet and tart aromas of raspberries here, of course. Pungent and sweet would be a good way to put it.

Vinegary sourness and raspberry sweetness & hardness is pretty evenly matched up front. Tart, dry finish.

Typical mouthfeel for the style.

Not something I'd session, but really well done. Another fine pFriem beer.

Great raspberries taste and some aroma, and wood ageing taste. A really good sipper. Reddish of course. On tap at the source. Nice colour. European quality level.
