Notes: pFriem’s Hoppy Belgian Ale is a light, dynamic brew, with notes of papaya, strawberry, mint and wildflower honey. Creamy with a soft round finish, it looks like spun gold. And tastes like it, too.

Big foam-up in the Belle-Vue Gueuze glass. Some haze in the amber brew. Fragrant with something like grapes. Orange and candied citron, something from the fruitcake, but clean with a lemony nose. Frothy in the mouth.

It's rather sweet, like a Tripel, but fruity and pineapple tasting. Then there is the Cream of Wheat flavor, malty and rich, followed by a winey, dark, juicy taste. And there's that distinctive Belgian yeasty dry finish.

It's another example of the alchemy they do at pFriem. A really good Belgian-style brew that opens a tiny new window into a mysterious world. From the 375 ml bottled on 01/04/2018 purchased at Payless Foods in Freeland, WA.
