Sturges opened at the beginning of the summer in the location of the former Garrason's downtown, and I waited a couple of months for the bugs to get worked out and everything to get fully set up before I paid them a visit...and I was impressed.

I went during happy hour, which from 4:30-7 offers half price drafts and a $4 bar menu. We got an order of ten boneless wings and three pulled pork sliders. The sliders were housemade and delicious, and the wings were about standard for what you'd expect from boneless wings. The draft selection was a lot like McGrath's in the fact that there's very little swill. Of the 16 taps, the only real macro ones were Miller Lite, Lager, and Guinness...everything else was a craft or non-generic import, including four Troegs taps, a Woodchuck season, two Elysian, Penn seasonal, Wittekerke, and Cherish.

We got out of there for $24 before tip at happy hour for six beers (three domestic, three craft/import) and the two food items, which seems like a really good deal. Service was pretty damn good, atmosphere was very friendly, and it was a real nice place to have a drink. From now on going downtown, it'll be between here and my personal favorite McGraths, though I haven't been to the new, beer-centric Aroogas.

I came here a bunch of times -once with my wife, a coworker and last night to meet up with friends. I like the vibe they are well run as far as quality goes and service is above average. I consider the selection very good because you have a nice variety of local, strong and Belgian choices as well as a wheat or fruit beer if so inclined. The food is very good and they have specials on appetizers during happy hour. I recommend coming because I got to generous pours of stout for only 9 bucks which is at least a buck cheaper than down the street.

A very nice small bar, with a warm atmosphere. Bartenders are engaging and knowledgable. Beer selection is limited, but rotated frequently. The food is very good here, had a fine dry-rubbed steak served over mashies. Pulled pork is a fine option. One of my go-to places in Harrisburg.
