750ml Bottle, Batch 11/13/2017

Look - 90% dense off white head settles down to a mound with center crater, sticky lacing. solid head cap start to finish. Perfect! 5.00

Smell - wild, yeasty, funky, citrus, tangerine, honey, apple, hop resin. 4.75

Taste - Sour, lemon-lime, un ripe peach, granny smith apple, tangy, honey, sweet aftertaste, so complex! 5.00

Feel - multi dimensional with all of the great flavors a world class Sour, Lambic, or Saison would give you, yet all waiting their turn to stimulate your pallet. 5.0

Overall - Perfection, only slight issue would be the lack of Fresh Hops, but this was bottled 6 months ago so it is expected i guess. A must find. 4.75

This one pours a nice rusted orange color, slightly hazy, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells pretty odd but great- grassy funk, peach, mint, twigs, flowers, and general herbs.

This is super weird beer, and I love it. The funk is so odd, but inviting. I get lots of grassiness and floral flavors, with spearmint, lemongrass, herbs, stonefruit, lemon, etc. It's mildly sour, but not overly so.

This is light bodied, drinkable, but a slow sipper due to the intense and weird flavors.

I really enjoyed this one- there's really nothing like it out there.

Typically beautiful Ale Apothecary; clarity, vibrant tones, champagne carbonation, a density to the yellow color. Smell here is Sahalie - oak, grassy / herbal, deep citrus flavor (lacking the acidity though), some funk - but with an added herbal, spice element from the fresh hops. No idea what varietal but I'd guess noble hops or some more traditional European hops that are earthy, woody. My only negative is that there is a slight vegetable note - one person described as "asparagus pee" - which isn't entirely complementary. Wouldn't call it an off flavor, but it's a green element ... and I think it will fade / blend in with time leaving a better beer. Moderate to low acidity, medium body that somehow manages to have viscosity but still be uplifting (that carbonation!), oak / fruity, a funk that's like being in the mesanine of a barn in summer smelling the warm / dry animal and rafters.

Drank alongside Zenne and some OGVs (2005 / 2008) along with some other fine beers. Zenne was fabulous but no one was willing to say it was clearly superior to FH Sahalie.

If you've had regular Sahalie, you'll love this variant. Nose is very similar, but with a fair hop presence; hard to tell which hops are used due to the strong oak characteristics. Taste is the same as the nose. Absolutely wonderful and way too crushable for a nearly 9% ABV beer.

Pours a beautiful golden yellow with great lacing. Very fresh and crisp. Wonderful bubbles. I didn't think regular Sahalie could be beat but this does just tgat
