Slightly sweet with almost a honey flavor. Nice light beer.

The Drafty Window by Hopothesis was a decent Farmhouse style ale. I tried this and the "Brew At The Bridge" in Oswego, IL. The beer poured a slightly hazy golden with white head that left some lacing. The scent and taste were bolstered by potpurri type hops with belgium malt back drop. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its tasty and worth a try

The bottle is marked "14 234 11" on the neck.

Hazy saturated sunset orange color, slowly rising micro carbonation. About a finger of foam at first, with a halo of sticky lace around the edges. Broken skim across the surface.

Aroma is oddly sweet, caramel malt mainly with little else to distinguish it. Dull.

Taste is also sweet, especially for a Saison, sweet corn and caramel malt. Odd saccharine note as well. Well carbonated, strange aftertaste. Not pleasant, and won't buy this again.

This marketing company is averaging one new beer a year, I don't really see how that can work out for the better. Contracting at Minhas also can't be helping. Tasted pretty similar to the Minhas-contracted Pecatonica beer I just had too... strange.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. The second beer from Hopothesis Beer Company. Expectations are average to below average based on my previous experience with Hopothesis IPA.

Poured into a clear balloon snifter.

A - Pours a pale murky golden colored body with some orange highlights and some active carbonation when given a good swirl. One finger of frothy white foam that falls to a ring for a head. Thin scattered soapy lacing. Looks okay.

S - Smell is definitely unique, I will give it that. Some strange creamsicle like aromas, muted florals, soapiness, oranges, dusty yeast presence, & almost a bacterial culture / yogurt like smell going on. Very strange. Huge overripe green apples & pear fruitiness. Faint spices do make an appearance at some point.

T - Taste is sweet and syrupy. Huge cidery green apples, pear, & banana fruitiness. A bit of an earthy yeast presence, but otherwise nothing much else going on. Slightly bready.

M - Feel is crisp and mostly clean with mild stickiness / fruitiness lingering on the palate. Dry finish. Medium bodied with coarse carbonation.

Overall, it was okay. I guess I enjoyed it better than the Hopothesis IPA, but that probably wasn't hard to do. Not in any way is this reminiscent of what a normal saison is though, it reminds me more of a beer-cider hybrid. Glad to have tried it, but I'm glad I only got a single bottle.

Hopothesis Drafty Window ---3/5.

I wanted to like this, and try to like it I did. Nope.
The name, drafty window, sort of foreshadows what the beers experience is, because I can't quite place what I am not enjoying about this beer because it feels like it is on the verge of falling apart in its attempt to wow me.
The aroma had some pleasantness towards it. From recollection. Apricot/pear/apple, some grain, perhaps a bit of funk, but that did not seem to follow through into the palate for mouthfeel. Nor finish. I want to drink this with someone else to pick it apart, because. For me. The Drafty Window seemed to have two minds as to what it wants of itself.

I LOVE trying new beers. Even if they're not that great, I find them interesting. But this beer - wow. Its the first beer I've ever not finished. I disliked it so much, I couldn't even force it. It's got a strong funk, which is normally fine because it's a farmhouse ale and thats the point, it's part of the beauty. But this funk is dominated by a cloying sweet, syrupy taste and feel that just makes my tongue feel gross. I like supporting local beers and am not hard to please by any means, but I find this beer rather terrible.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

No one likes doing home improvement work, but sometimes it's necessary... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by over a finger of light cream foam. The nose comprises cracked wheat, mild clove, light coriander, lightly-funky orange peel, and a touch of sweet corn. The taste holds notes of mild orange peel, coriander, clove, light wheat, light buttered biscuit, and a decent amount of dirty funk (meaning the funk is riddled with dirt, I should say). The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, I just couldn't get into this saison-ish thing. Mostly, it was the odd funk in the finish that ruined everything.

12 oz. bottle poured into a Surly tulip. Semi-transparent orange/dark straw body with a finger of nearly-white frothy head. Decent retention and light lacing.

Spicy phenols and citrus zest in the nose, predominately clove and orange peel. Slightly earthy/floral hoppiness and cracked grains.

The flavor isn't terrible, but definitely doesn't blow me away. Sweet and bright fruitiness combined with a silghtly funky yeast and lots of coriander and clove. Slight hint of buttered bread.

Mouthfeel is a little on the sticky side. Medium mouthfeel/carbonation.

Overall... meh. It's drinkable but nothing special. No major off-putting traits, but not particularly good either.
