Small place with a small but good selection. Local stuff on the shelves from the likes of Night Shift, etc. Only one small fridge, so a lot of the pale ales are sitting out at room temperature, so I guess just check the dates if you intend to buy them. Not a great shop, but an unexpected little gem in the area that's worth checking out.

This was a pretty neat beer and wine store. Its got a very nice selection of cool beers that you might not find at other stores. A bit of a hipster vibe, but everything in that neighborhood has a hipster vibe.
That being said, I had a lot of fun stumbling into it in my mini-adventures through Jamaica Planes, and bought some cool brews for a wedding I was attending. It reminded me of a small brew store that used to exist in Tallahassee (fermentation market).
Id be happy to stop in again in the future if I visited again.

Kind of a hipster vibe. Some nice local offerings from Nightshift, Pretty Things, Mystic. A good selection from Allagash including some of their smaller format bottles. A couple of Cascade Sours, MBC, and some offerings from DC Brau and Revolution...probably due to the recent Extreme Beer Fest which took place in Boston. They were having a wine tasting the day I stopped in.

A small but excellent beer and wine store. I give them top marks for quality because they only stock good products(no BMC) that they would recommend personally.
Their selection of foreign brews is impressive and leans towards Belgium. Even though their store is a third of the size of Blanchards down the street, they have a way bigger and more interesting foreign selection. A nice assortment of sours, which I appreciate. Four or five different guezues, and they seem to keep the selection of sours rotating because I keep seeing new stuff.
A good stock of American craft, leaning towards locals. I can always find a local IPA that was bottled within a few weeks. I picked up Stone Enjoy by 12/21 IPA last time I was there, so they come through on the harder to find one off releases too.
Streetcar is one of the cleanest and least cluttered beer stores I've ever been in. They do weekly tastings and I recommend subscribing to their newsletter. Prices are average for Boston.
If you are in the Jamaica Plain area visiting Sam Adams or for whatever reason you should definitely check Streetcar out. Its very close to Canary Square and Brendan Behan, so you could do a pretty killer JP beer crawl.

I had met Mike in the past, so it was great to see his dream of opening a wine and craft beer store realized in JP. The other craft beer stores on Centre street are further down (City Feed & Blanchards) so its nice if you are like me and live closer to Streetcar.
Walking in the store looks new and very nice, the renovation job that they did in this space turned out great. Its very welcoming and has a simple lay out. On the right is the craft beer, and on the left is the wine. In the middle are neat streetcar shaped display racks to show both wines and beers that are new / featured. Mike is quick to respond to any questions, make recommendations, or help someone find something. In the two times I've been he showed good knowledge of his product and helped customers with recommendations.
The craft beer side of the store is organized into 3 sections, seemingly, Belgians, Locals, and American. Each section offers a good variety of styles and breweries, and is fairly extensive considering its only been open for about 5 weeks. This includes a good selection of not too hard to find, but nevertheless tricky to find, Belgian sours. There is a small cooler in the back with some cold options, but not many.
Prices are reasonable for the area, I did put it at 3 $ signs because JP, especially on Centre street, tends to be a dollar or two higher than outside the city. But nothing was unreasonable, certainly in line with the area.
Mike also runs an e-mail list, twitter account, and seems to have a tasting every once in a while. Certainly worth checking out if you live close by or are traveling through JP.
Looking forward to this store growing, its quickly become my local option for good beers.
