We're no monks, but our Belgian-style IPA gives a tip of the hat to our divine brethren. Brewed with rich malt, noble hops, Trappist yeast and a kick of coriander, this is one complex beer. Rather than make a beer that's more of a dare to drink than a pleasure, balance was the priority here. We wanted a beer for "hop heads" and novices alike. Hop Trapp pours with a refined bitter backbone, floral hoppy notes and a decidedly Belgian finish. This brew is worthy of some serious contemplation.

Drank +3 months after bottling date

A good-looking beer with a honeyed, yeasty aroma confident in its Belgian heritage. The malt and hop presence is distinct, but the balance ultimately trends toward outright hoppiness, with little character and a sharp bite I could honestly do without (although this could be attributed to the age of the beer). The feel is mostly soft and the flavors individually are solid, but unfortunately this one doesn't quite live up to it's initial promise, at least enough to be memorable for me.

Amber color with light tan head.

Smell is subtle but dominated by hops. Piny and citrusy.

Fairly hoppy taste but is pretty well balanced. The aftertaste has some grapefruit citrus to it, which is not my favorite

12oz bottle, Pilsner glass.

Belgian though it may be, this looks like an IPA with a coppery hue and creamy light tan head.

The aroma does point us toward our much-invaded low country tasty beer brewing friends in Belgium. There’s yeast with bubble gum, fruity, and peppery phenols, bready malt, and fruity hops.

It’s less sweet once you’ve sipped it, but the flavors are in line with the aroma. The breadiness fights a lot of banana and bubble gum with some help from hop bitterness. The finish is surprisingly clean.

It’s got a medium body with active, almost spritzy carbonation.

This seems like they may have crossed an American version of an English IPA with a Belgian beer. The yeast flavors and hop flavors being too “same” doesn’t work for me.

Draft pint in Dallas Love airport. Deep orange with thin ecru head that leaves a full coat on the way down. Mild aroma; fruity Belgian yeast and brown sugar. Taste follows with a bitter hop smack at the back end. Mouth is full. Could have a few of these.

Don't like Belgian beers. Probably good if you like them, but it had that very distinctly Belgian taste that I can't stand.
