Style: Milk / Sweet Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.10%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Va-va-voom! Our Temptress is seduction in a glass. Curvy in all the right places, this Imperial Milk Stout pours with a thick, milk chocolate head. Chocolate and caramel malt give it a rich and complex body while the lower carbonation gives the beer a silky mouth feel. She’s voluptuous, with a soft alcohol warmth that grows deeper with every sip. Take your time with her and she’ll reward you.

The bottle says brewed on 6/24/15, so exactly one week ago. Don't know why people downplay the importance of freshness when it comes to any beer, because there is nothing quite so sublime as a beer like this that is only one week old. I live in the Dallas area, and this beer is from Garland, sort of the San Fernando Valley of the DFW Metroplex, only more low rent (what Arlen, Tx of King of the Hill was based on). It is mind boggling to me that a beer of this quality comes from Garland (which I guess they're trying to downplay by naming the company after Lakewood, a sort of old wealth historic enclave in Dallas for the most part).

I will never turn my nose up at a domestic beer again, if Garland, of all places, can come up with something like this. I guess it's comparable to Old Rasputin, but more subtle, nuanced, unobtrusive, pleasing, drinkable, and refined (ironic as Old Rasputin itself is like an ultra-refined version of Guinness.) Won't get into a laborious description of sensory attributes beyond that. Only try it (certainly if its just one week old.)

A solid milk stout. Looks, tastes like what it's supposed to. Lots of lactose on the nose and palate. The booziness is well hid through most of the taste. A solid extra, would happily drink again.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #83 (Dec 2013):

Brewed with lactose sugar and vanilla, this is one robust, rich and flavorful beer with distinct layers that unfold as the beer warms. Sweet and a bit warming, but not cloying or boozy, this is indeed a tempting beer and one to sip with respect.

SMELL: Mocha, roasty, molasses, marshmallows
