Notes / Commercial Description:
Lakewood is more than a place. It's a state of mind. Old blends with new. Traditions hook up with fresh ideas. It's the same with our Lakewood Lager. We've taken old world Vienna-Style lager and reintroduced it to beer lovers. Subtle caramel aromas, a coppery pour and a light malty sweetness paired with noble hop bitterness set this beer apart. In with the old, in with the new.

A deep copper lager with a nice lasting head. This is a very flavorful Vienna. It is sweet, bitter and even sour with a lingering pepper taste that reminds me of a rye brew. There is an initial sharpness that works well to balance the full, roasted malt body.

Pours to a thin but lasting of white head and orange copper color. Toasty, malty caramel aroma. Flavor is Strong on malt, especially caramelized malts. Nice Hop bitterness to balance but sweet wins out by a nose. Mouthfeel is kind of heavy for the OG and style with within tolerance. A tasty, solid Metroplex local brew that tastes and feels bigger than its abv suggests. To me it drinks more like an American Amber Ale or am O-Fest than a Vienna lager.

a very solid example of a style i dont generally get off on too hard. its not as sweet as so many of its peers, which i think helps it stay refreshing and easy drinking, at least comparatively speaking. its perfectly clear and has an awesome copper shine to it. the head is nearly an inch tall, pure white, and settling only very slowly. big bubbles race to the surface. it smells quite authentic, european and classic on the yeast, bready and sudsy, maybe with a pretzel sort of baked doughy vibe to it, but still crisp. the malt is nicely toasted, and has a mix of a lighter honey kind of sweetness along with the pre-burnt darker side of things, short of scorched but past lightly caramelized for sure. smooth in its body, but maybe with a little less carbonation than i think the style likes. its not flat, but its not real active after a minute either. decent bittering hops balance this out beautifully later on, great union of ingredients here, and it finishes almost dry for what it is. a fine example of the vienna lager here, on tap at braindead brewing in dallas.

Drank straight from bottle so not much to say about look/smell.
Lots of roasty caramel malt, with plenty of hop flavor - bottle says noble hops, which gives it a slightly different flavor relative to other Vienna Lagers.
Feels smooth and not overly carbonated.
Overall, lots of flavor for 4.6%.

Grainy, Caramel, Dry, Biscuity

Copper with a thick, foamy, white head. Rich, malted, woody nose. Grainy, gritty, malty sweet, caramel, toasty, and bready. Leafy, herbal, soft, hop bitterness. Very dry, astringent, strong biscuity finish. The beer falls victim from the overuse of certain malts (probably crystal), which unfortunately dominates this brew and leaves a not so pleasant aftertaste.

Great balance. Love this style. Everybody in TX makes a great one. This is first or second best.
