Prost Weißbier has an outlandishly exuberant head of foam, that literally exploded out of the bottle, so watch out with that. The foam is off-white. Lacing is heavy, at first, but then drops off. The appearance of the beer is yellow-orange (think of Blue Moon) and bubbly, to the hilt. Aroma is of banana, Hubble Bubble gum, cloves, coriander, and white wheat bread. Taste is of those elements, with a peppery spice, kicking right in, but with very little bitterness showing up, which is no surprise. Mouthfeel is low medium, and Prost Weißbier finish on the dry side of the equation.

PROST WEISSBIER 5/4/16

From a new beer club shipment. We don't get this brewery's products in my state.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Unibroue Blanche de Chambly stemmed pilsner glass.

a: Cloudy dark gold with a foamy inch thick white head which receded to thick even surface foam and dense lacing.

s: Belgian yeast.

t; Banana up front over a smooth medium bready malt base. Sweetish finish.

m: Smooth medium, good body and carbonation tingle.

o: A very good hefe, with a pleasant flavor and mouthfeel. Feels substantial yet refreshing. One of the best of the style I have had.

Poured from a 12oz bottle with no clear date; into a pint glass.
Apperance - cloudy, blood orange with lots of floating sediment and some carbonation bubbles if you look hard enough. Very thin white head that disappears quickly. Lacing is nonexistent.
Smell - banana, clove, coriander and some sweet biscuit!
Taste - more sweet than spicy; tangy and flavorful.
Feel - light to medium body; sweet up front followed by some spice and a tangy finish.
Overall - refreshing, sweet hefeweizen that would be great on the patio during the Summer.

Delicious. Spicy banana and clove balanced over doughy malts with a slightly sweet finish. The aroma is yeasty, mingling with the clove. My only complaint is the sweet finish, otherwise this is a fantastic sessionable brew. Easily one of the best hefes you'll find.

Beer of the Month selection. Cloudy pour, creamy firm head, notes of vanilla with hints of citrus, clean finish. Standard hefeweisen, pretty good, quire refreshing.

Got it in a "Beer of the Month" club shipment. Very light look, smell, and flavor, but pretty good overall. I'll enjoy the rest in the shipment, then likely never have it again until it shows up again in another club shipment.

Is basically a classic example of a hefeweizen.

Hazy golden yellow, thick fizzy white head - not great retention.

Nose is big on ripe fruit, banana and clove for sure.

Taste follows suit - very much a standard but very well done. Drying and clean on the finish.

A: The beer is quite hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that quickly dissipated, leaving only a very narrow ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderately strong aromas of bananas and clove are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of bananas and clove from the yeast along with notes of wheat.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has very nice aromas and flavors of bananas and clove but seems like its appearance could use more in the way of a head and visible carbonation.

On-draught @ Prost. Brief impressions:

HEAD: White and fluffy. Soft looking. 5 minute retention.

BODY: To style, it's a hazy orange.

AROMA: Banana, clove, wheat, orange peel. Very inviting. Style-appropriate.

TASTE: The wheat backbone could taste fresher, but the clove and banana yeast esters are on point. Vitaminy and rich. It's not as orange peel forward as would be ideal. Generally well balanced, but it could be dialed in more. Built to style conventions.

TEXTURE: Refreshing, smooth, wet, somewhat soft, and Overcarbonated. A softer lighter feel on the palate would be an improvement.

Complements the taste well, but it fails to elevate the beer as a whole.

OVERALL: Drinkability isn't high for the style, but it's above average in general. Overall, this is a competently brewed expression of a hefeweizen, but it can't hold a candle to the best traditional German offerings. Well worth trying, and a beer I'd happily nab a 6 pack of. Solid work from Prost.
