Style: German Pilsener

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is a northern German staple and our flagship beer. This is a crisp, pale and dry interpretation of the style. Well hopped with noble German varieties and a special strain of yeast from a German monastery. Prost Pils is pale gold in color and capped with a thick, brilliantly white, dense collar of foam. With the first sip spicy hop flavors come to the forefront. As the hop begins to fade, the wonderfully soft imported pilsner malt is revealed. The finish, with its herbal, pleasantly lingering hop note balanced by a rich malt counterpoint, demands another taste. (ABV 4.6% 37 IBU'S)

What a head; soft, foamy, thick and luscious. Good clarity, active bubbly appearance. Smell is minerally, herbal/oily hops, mouth-watering toasted malt aroma. Wow, the taste! Crisp and flavorful. Biscuity malts up front, clean finish. Nice mild hoppiness, longer than expected linger on the palette. Exquisite hops flavor; mild, but flavorful. The water taste is great, really comes out in the glass. Mouthfeel is quite nice, bubbly and lively but not rough at all.

My first beer from Prost and so far, I am very impressed. Excellent representation of true German pils.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pilsner glass.

Appearance: Clear gold with good sized, stark white head.

Smell: Apple. straw and pepper. Fairly mild.

Taste: Strong semi-sweet apple core, with additional elements of straw, pepper and floral notes. Fairly spicy and bitter finish.

Feel: High carbonation, light body, very dry finish.

Overall: Very straightforward Northern German Pilsner, but fresh and well executed.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Label says enjoy by 10/08/14.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear straw golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of white head which fades into a thin patch.

Smell: A bready and spicy malt forward aroma with hints of biscuit and earthy hops. Pale malt with upfront hints of biscuit, grains, straw, cracker, and yeast. Solid hints of spicy and earthy Noble hops. Subtle fruit hints of apple and lemon zest. A very solid Pilsener aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a nicely crisp, bready, and spicy malt driven taste with notes of biscuit and spicy hops. Pale malt with bready notes of biscuit, straw, grains, cracker, and yeast. Good presence of Euro Noble hops with some spicy and earthy notes. Nice undertones of fruit with some notes of apple and lemon zest. A pretty good Pils taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Crisp, creamy, and very smooth with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: A very solid take on the German Pilsener style. Good biscuit malt taste with some nice spicy hop and fruit notes.

Poured into a pint glass, hazy straw yellow with one finger of light head that faded to a thick fluffy quarter inch of tight tiny bubbles. Nice retention and lacing. Aroma is grassy and just a bit of herbal spiciness from the noble hops. Also got some bready biscuity notes as well. Taste is identical to the smell, grassy notes with light malt notes, very crisp finish, very true to style. The mouthfeel is pretty light, nicely carbonated. Overall this is a very nice representation of the style- makes me feel like I'm back in Germany again.

Brilliant gold, lots of rising carb trails, a two finger head of foam with long lasting surface coverage.

Aroma is crisp and grassy, with an interesting faint note of lemon sorbet. Taste is grassy and crackery, plenty of noble hop bitterness. Dry clean bitter finish. Body is light with a crisp feel, quenching and well balanced, slightly hoppier than most, maybe on similar ground with Jever Pils.

Overall this is a great German Pils, refreshing and true to style.

Poured on tap at Prost in Denver into a pilsner glass.

A real looker. Clumpy white and bright head, an extreme amount of aggressive lacing. Body color is a hair darker than most pilsners, a real gorgeous dark golden faint bronze. Lively carbonation a real impressive looking brew.

Ever get that first visit brewery smell? That rank yeast and spent grain smell? It smells exactly like that. Nothing more i find this welcoming but really shocking though.

Taste is a crisp huge thick pilsner malt rush with a wonderful hop popping lime juice finish. Giant baked bread and rolling dough. Manages also a real clean and dense with crisp finish.

Overall this is spectacular for a domestic pilsner.
