Poured from a 16oz can into glass. No ABV listed on can, no canning date marked on can.
Slightly hazy (unfiltered), dark amber body, creamy white head, with good lacing.
Smells and tastes of piney hops and grassy malts. Being an IPA, it shows its bitterness.
Smooth, easy drinking beer, good mouth feel, good carbonation.
Average bitter type IPA.

Not a very good beer. Tasted like beer flavored water or something along those lines. I would suggest looking elsewhere if you are in need of a good brew. It seems to me as if this brewery sells beer solely because of their gimmicky name.

If you want to enjoy a drinkable IPA with an awesome open area to hang out and play some corn hole on a summer day, then get this at the brewery. Otherwise, I think there are better options, but its not bad. Above average.

Fat Bottom Brewing "Knockout IPA"
$8.99/Imperial pint @ Gibson Cafe, Nashville Int'l Airport, TN - 8 April 2015

Appearance: Very hazy deep copper body beneath a frothy white head that drops steadily but still displays OK retention and even better initial lacing.

Aroma: Limited aroma, especially for an IPA. Hops are present but not necessarily distinguishable over the gently caramelish malt.

Flavor: The flavor is fuller, but in many ways still limited. The malt component is caramelish, but not bright, and it's slightly toasty... almost like the malt you'd find in a brown ale. Grassy and floral hops liken it, and it's solidly bitter, bringing home a dry, grassy and floral finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and crisp.

Overall: More of an English than American IPA in many ways, and yet not actually a proper English IPA... a hybrid, shall we say? An easy pint to just relax with as it doesn't ask too much or challenge you. Worth trying.

Be careful of what you wish for, you just might get it! That's the mantra that Fat Bottom brewers live by and is encompassed with Knock Out IPA- a hoppy beer that delivers bitterness, then more bitterness and then even more!

The sharp IPA opens with a somber hazy honey amber and astute with a creamy eggshell froth. Lemony with a tinge of grapefruit, pine, herb and tea; the nose is rife with vegetation, grass, caramel and toast. Surly sweet in taste, its defiant nose is countered with a caramel sweet upstart and a toasted shortbread character.

Remissed sweetness and projecting hops quickly gain command of taste as the palate is quickly awash with citrus, pine and grass. Pink grapefruit, under-ripened orange, lemon and lime zest all play a sharp role with a tonic-type bite. Bitter with eucalyptus, mint, lemon leaf and fresh grass clippings, the trailing taste continues to favor the hops to a dominant degree.

Medium-dry on the palate, the beer's creamy dryness trends crisp, refreshing and cleanly bitter. Light astringency from a stemmy, leafy property offers a mild distraction from taste, however its final impressions are toasty-bitter with an afterglow of astringent fruit tea.
