22 oz glass bomber from Lifesource in Salem OR
Hazy burnt orange beer with a gorgeous thick and creamy white head.
Aromas of lime zest and cherries..little sherberty and some slight caramel malts.
Taste a bit more balanced with the malts being more forward but the frothy fruity malts dominate..even finishes bitter dank a bit like a trad PNW IPA,
Mouth feel is very nice its ell enough carbonated to carry all the fruity hoppiness.
Good beer

Relatively clear gold with a light haze and a finger of white head. Modest lacing.

Flashes of pine, weed, orange, pepper, honey and tea in the nose.

Peppery pine up front in the taste with a really clean finish that only allows some dull, light, earthy, tea-like bitterness to carry through.

Medium bodied with great, prickly carbonation.

If you’re looking for a clean, earthy, almost English-style IPA from before the days of “xtreme” beer, this one’s for you.

12oz can poured into 14oz teku. Poured a cloudy dark yellow/light orange color with about 2/3 of an inch of white head that low retention and lacing.

The aroma is low malt/grain and hop forward, mostly citrus, with some floral. Pretty similar on the tongue, with the citrus hops being more dominant, and leaving a nice tang on the finish.

The body was light-medium, smooth, and had a semi-dry finish. Drinkability was great, as I've long known. Overall, a very nice brew, one that is worthy of it's place in the upper echelon of NW IPAs.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 22 fl oz bottle on August 3, 2018. Pleasant notes of citrus, tangerine, tropical fruit and pine. A nicely balanced IPA.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned May 15th 2018.

Beaming orange body color, quite clear, with a touch of bronze, and fine amounts of carbonation. Soapy three finger head, off white in color, but dissolves pretty quickly to a thin puck and fat bubbled collar.

Very good aroma. Hop forward with a touch of complexity. Juice spicy orange, with a good amount of zest on it. A touch of pine as well. Fairly neutral but supportive malt presence. Very nice.

Good solid palate. First touch of bitterness is noticeable, less aromatic in quality, but a good controlled pine and astringent blast on first sip. Slowly dials down to needles and light malt sweetness on the tongue, and even a bit of black pepper. More of a spicy finish, touching green herbs and pepper. Green peppercorn anyone?

Very nice solid IPA.

On tap on a Washington State ferry. Poured a clear, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of floral notes, orange peel and pine. Sweet toasted caramel with a nice pine bitterness with a hint of citrus.

I live in the northwest and am INNUNDATED with great IPAs - I've almost kinda burnt out on them and have been drinking more lagers lately. Anyway this is a really pretty beer in a glass, and has a great hop flavor with nice carbonation and mouthfeel. Very very good!

Bomber gifted from a friend. Dated 8/23 so about seven weeks of age on it. Great beer that has me thinking about what this is like fresh from the source. I’m in the heart of NE IPA Country but I’m a huge fan of PNW ales. They sing to me - citrusy, leafy hops, moderate bitterness, lively carbonation. This is a great example of that style although it carries less bitterness than I expected.

Orange gold pour with a moderate puffy head that lasts. Cloudy not hazeeeeee or turbid. Milkshake this is not.

Citrus pops from the bottle - orange, grapefruit and papaya. Crisp aroma that puts the palate on alert.

Taste is true to smell - orange rind, pink grapefruit, papaya, green pine. Tons of leafy hops on display. Slightly earthy undertone.

Moderate bitterness makes even more room for the citrus flavors to own the flavor and feel end to end but prevents it from becoming too fruit-forward and acidic. Clean and crisp are hallmarks. Great beer.

On draught at Tavern Hall, crikey IPA is a remarkably clean IPA. With an orange color, it's on the maltier side of west coast style, but the hops are all there, loads of bright fruit, a little pine, and moderate bitterness. The aftertaste is just super clean, this is really well made. It's so well integrated that I can see how it might strike one as underwhelming, but I'd say more elegant.

a balanced and fresh, but rather unexciting ipa here. i slugged this pint down with a couple of hot slices of pizza, and it works great in that context, a refresher, a food washer downer, and an easy enough drinking beer just for drinking, no deep contemplation or discussion. i have thought all the beers i have had from these guys recently have been real well made, but i havent found any of them to be particularly inspired, even fresh hop and rye beers found ways to be sort of overly subtle and not distinct. that said, the hop profile is nice here, very classically northwestern with high alpha C type hops, orange and pine in the nose and flavor, lots of bitterness in the finish, long finishing, very fresh an sort of old school. there is some malt here too, balancing it out nicely, cancelling some of the bitterness, and providing a honeyed sort of quality to this that really works with the hops, not too sweet or heavy at all. in the end, we have a quality ipa here, easy drinking and brightly hopped, well carbonated and clean, but its not particularly memorable in any way for me...

Seattle review dump.

A- Slightly hazy pour from the can to a pint glass revealing a deep golden brew with a thick frothy white head. Fairly good retention as the cap falls to a blanket in the middle and a wide ring at the edges. Sheets of lacing down the walls of the glass.

S- Hops are the focal point of the aroma with a smooth blend of citrus, floral, pine and stone fruits. A few particular things like grapefruit and tangerine come to mind but all in all it is hard to pull specific, strong notes out.

T- Ruby red grapefruit, mandarin and oranges come forward as citrus is the centerpiece of the hop profile and the beers overall flavor. Hops also leave pine, tangerine, apricot, melon, dank, floral, earthy, woodsy and herbal hints. A touch sweet with a slight yeast bread hint to balance out the hops.

MF- Medium bodied with a moderately low carbonation and a slick sensation on the palate. The texture is foamy and slightly creamy. Pine and grapefruit bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

Grapefruit and pine hops in the forefront with a plethora of more subtle hop flavors beyond that. A sweetness and malt character creeps up after half the can and it detracts from the hops a bit with time.

This one pours a clear light amber with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like orange zest, bready malt, zesty pine, and grassiness.

This is a very bitter IPA, with grapefruit rind, orange zest, pine zest, and very slight malt.

This is light bodied, with a pretty crisp mouthfeel, and a good level of carbonation.

This is a good start for these guys- it's a fairly standard style West Coast style IPA, but done very well.

Slightly cloudy, orange in color, with a creamy head with solid retention and lacing. Aroma is citrus and dank, tropical fruit. Hints of grain and pale malt. Flavor is juicy, tangerine, melon, grapefruit, and mango. Resinous, with some piney hops bite. A very well balanced and flavorful beer. So drinkable and smooth as well. I would definitely have another!

12 oz can from Pilgrim’s. Aroma is clean and fresh, with notes of grapefruit, tropical fruit, pine, lightly bready. Pours hazy golden with a one finger off-white head with decent retention and some lace. Taste is highly bitter with notes matching the aroma, grapefruit pith; not as impressive as the aroma. Nice IPA overall. 8,4,7,5,15

My first beer from these guys, this is everything I love about IPA's. Golden copper color, slightly off-white head, some hop haze. Just a beautiful beer.

The malt is really forward on the nose, but the citrus/orange hop notes dance to the front of the line on the taste, with some pine - and then that substantial malt backbone glides in to smooth out the landing. Drinking this is like watching a perfectly executed waltz - everything is in balance, and you know you're witnessing something beautiful.

Just a magnificent representation of the style, IMHO.

22 oz. bottle:

Pours hazed golden with a fluffy white head. Trailing lace.

The smell is of pine, citrus (grapefruit) - musty - some caramel.

The taste is of pine/resin and grapefruit. Sweet caramelized grain balances the bitterness. Spicy and bitter-leaning , dry finish.

Shows the characteristics of a modern American Pacific Northwest IPA well.

Slight hay orange with no head. 3.75
Zesty citrus and mango puree. 4
Dough and apricot, big bright orange and mango mash, powdery bitterness, and creamsicle comeback. 4.25
Almost medium, round, smooth. 4

Juicy, with a bit of scratch. Nothing I haven’t had before, but tons of C hop smoothness. Still, never got blown away by Reuben’s. 4.25

Classic IPA taste, hoppy with a dry, bitter finish. Better than most, very drinkable and not too strong. Enjoyed this from a 22 poured into a pint glass. Rich golden orange color.

12oz can served in a tulip. Poured completely. Can is not dated, but appears to have been put on the shelf at the store on 7/6/2016, which suggests (but does not guarantee) that it's fairly fresh.

Pours very hazy with a very attractive medium sized head. Amber in color. Smell is piney, floral, mostly hop flowers.

Taste is a dense sweetness with a super dry hoppy bitterness. Very piney.

Mouthfeel is dry and resinous. Overall, a pretty good beer.

This is a very good example of what a solid American IPA should be. It was hoppy and crisp, but not overpowering. The flavor was very well balanced, but not super juicy. Pretty good.

Crikey! Name says it all. Translucent, gold color. Pine nose at first quaff. Nice level of bitterness, even for a hard-fast hop head. Distinct citrus notes on palate - even some floral in the finish. I find myself buying this now over other IPAs that dominate the PNW venue (e.g. Ninkasi).

Overall, a classic American IPA. Huge grapefruit character with some pine and then cracked pepper in the dry finish. The aroma is more floral. Man this has some bite to it. Great IPA if you're looking for a bitter kick.

Amber color with nice, beige head. Aroma is mostly piney, resiny, earthy and dank. It also has some citrus fruits, mostly grapefruit. Taste starts earthy and resiny, some herbal flavor too, quite bitter up-front but not overwhelming. Body is medium-heavy, well carbonated and easy to drink. Quite nice overall, a classic, well hopped, bitter IPA.
