A gift from a friend who'd been to Laos. A 330ml bottle which pours as a clear straw colour with a small white head. Aromas of sweet malt & corn. Tastes medium sweet and bitter, malty, grain & lactose. Aftertaste has a sweet light bitter finish. Reasonable for the region it comes from

Bottle from Solidfunk, Thanks again!
Slightly cloudy golden color with a small bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Skunky from the get go, light sweet bready pilsner hints of earth. Sweet corn light non descript fruit. Not horrible, but really all over the place taste wise.

I had this almost every day during my trip in Laos. It has a light sweetness in there and a taste that is just perfectly refreshing in the eternal summer heat in many parts of the country. A bit above average, since it has a little extra oomph in there - an unmistakably unique flavor.

I had this during a business trip to Lao, I visited Beerlao factory on the same trip. Beerlao made up 90% of the beer consumption in Lao and also export to neighbour country Thailand. One can easily find Beerlao in any restaurants in Lao and also at the airport lounges.

Pour from 640ml bottle to a glass. Hazy copper gold and light frothy crown.
Sweet malty nose. Light-bodied, hint of sweetness with light creamy finish on the palate.
Overall, easy going lager to drink with or without food. As it is brew from rice, it does give a unique taste.

Had this at a Korean restaurant recently. Light and went will with the meal. Nothing extraordinary but it has a decent enough taste. Very light in color which is gold and weak foam that dissipates quickly. Aroma was average and nothing memorable.

11.6 oz brown bottle purchased at a Tops supermarket in Thailand.

Light and malty but always pleasant - never too sweet. Balanced and enjoyable, with a refreshing taste.

Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, slightly overcarbonated.

640ml bottle @ LaoLao Garden in Luang Prabang.

Ludicrously drinkable, but it has sufficient body and a pleasant fresh pale malt taste. I find no overt rice notes, which is probably testament to the beer's quality; it has none if the thinness and cheap sweet flavour found in many rice lagers.

It does lean a bit too heavy on the malt sweetness, but it's forgivable and doesn't affect drinkability too much.

Easily preferable to every Thai beer currently produced as well as most Vietnamese lagers. Beerlao is a highly drinkable faultless Southeast Asian rice lager with more body and balance than most. My beer of choice when in the region, though relatively uncommon in smaller Thai and Vietnamese towns. That said, it still can't compete with good international (read: Western) expressions of the style.

07.04.16 further reflections from another bottle in Laos (though this is also available in 330ish ml cans).

A hint of perfumey jasmine helps set this apart. There's a blip of graininess in the third act, which shifts the beer out of its malt sweetness nicely.

Its softness on the palate is a key strength, and a nice change from the sharply overcarbonated texture usually observed in regional brews. Light to medium-bodied, yet nevertheless refreshing.

No diacetyl, metallic flavour, or other faults.

For a lager this is not a bad beer - picked up a pint can at the 99 cent store. Not expecting anything mind blowing I actually found myself enjoying this beer. It's a straight forward lager, not overly sweet like some lagers. Much better than other Asian beers (like Tsingtao.)

$ 1.86/11.2 oz bottle ($0.167/oz) at State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD
MFG Date: JI BA B JAE at 42 degrees into SA “Perfect Pint”
Aroma of wet grain, some disulfide
Head large (Seven cm, aggressive pour), white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to three mm ring and heaped partial layer
Lacing – poor. A few small drag marks as the volume lowers, ephemeral
Body – light yellow, clear, effervescent
Flavor – amazingly, not offensive. Little flavor at all, no disulfide coming through, no malted grain, no hops, no diacetyl, no alcohol. Just very slightly sweet.
Palate light, watery, soft carbonation

Appearance 3.5, Aroma 2.5, Flavor 3, Palate 3.5, Overall 3

Gold color and clear. Little head and no lace.

Grainy corn macro aroma. Some stew to the nose.

Lots of corn to the taste. I give some credit for the presence of hops thin body and elevated carbonation.
